I couldn't kill anything, I'm afraid. Else I would have shot the crows in my backyard weeks ago. Those bloody creatures make a hell of a noise every day, going "Craaah Craaah" at an annoying volume all the time, and yet I can't bring myself to hurt them. After all, they have just as much right to live as I do, right?
So,if I can't even kill some bloody crows who would really deserve it, I don't think that I would be able to kill some guy who I haven't even met yet.
I guess if I were a PC in an RPG, I would be a real pain in the ass for the rest of the group, always going:" Oooh, I think we should find a less violent solution" in dungeons or "Can't they just get along" in a war or "Are you going to eat all of that?" in an inn.

People that powerful go down FAST when they turn to the darkness.

Unless, of course, if they started down there. The best of us do.

But then again, Mordenkaiden does not exist in Faerun, or even Abeir-Toril, so it's irellevant.

Well, if it's 1.000.000gp + expenses, I could use planar magic and take a nice stroll through the Deep Shadow, till I find an exit named earth, uh, I mean, OERTH

As for Elminster...*looks up stats in the ELH*...if my character had reason to take him down, he could do it easily. And his ward of "You can't kill me because I'm Elminster! The pet NPC of some guy who was involved in writing up the FR! NYAAA!" would NOT work....at all.;)

Didn't they tell you? Elminster is not just a chosen, but a proxy of Ed Greenwood. He gets a special ability they don't put in the books: Canon. You cannot harm elminster unless Eddie gave you leave to do so (and for that, you must be a chosen of another god in the "FR" pantheon.... ;)

Why not, The bigger the overkill the better!
He may however run into some legal issues, but that's why he's represented by The law Firm of Dewey, Scruem and Howe.

I took the red pill and mixed it with the blue pill, and made nexium. Now there are a bunch of dudes in suits with cheap sunglasses trying to give me heartburn.
:D

Mordenkeinen eh? Well, I'd wait until he switched sides to do it but then I'd do it on principle.

The Mordenkeinen of Greyhawk is supposed to hold some kind of a view of militant neutrality that is every bit as repellent as the absolute evil embodied by Iuz and others. At the moment, he's on the side of good and law because they're weaker, but if the forces of Good were to gain the upper hand in Greyhawk, he'd switch sides and start helping evil as a matter of "principle." According to canon sources, he seems to see it as "keeping the balance" between good and evil. As I see it, that amounts to him wanting the conflict to continue forever and maximize the amount of possible suffering.

Still, I wouldn't want to throw away any allies in the fight against evil so I'd wait until he betrayed us (or was about to) before I greased him. (There's also the question of how I'd actually manage to kill him--that would be quite difficult considering his power and connections but it might be managable).

Naw, I wouldn't kill Mordenkainen.

Elminster. Oh gosh yes. He must die. die die die.

Now, I can hear some people out there saying "What did Elminster ever do to you?"

Here's my answer...

HE WAS BORN!!! :D

*points to an open palm* Rest assured the matter will be taken care of. The King of the Crosstrade makes certain that the wheels of justice grind just the way she wants them to grind, and where. So do you want that silly prime mage incinerated, buried in a layer of Carceri, taken liberties with over a few centuries within The Wasting Tower of Khin-Oin, or perhaps have his memory erased and have him thrown into a random street in Sigil with a note telling him a strange bladed lady took his memory and to go kill her, then wait and watch the fun?

Many a ways to go about the task, and I do so enjoy such games. Suggestions? But of course, I won't sully my own hands in such business. I just see that it happens and I WILL be getting my own cut of the contents of his tower on Oerth, yes? Good.

*preens*

Interviewer - "Angcuru, you've been all over Faerun and you've seen it all. So tell us, would you kill Elminster?"

*Angcuru switches into character*
All over the Sword Coast, you mean. Y'know, I think it's quite possible that I might have killed Elminster, actually. It's hard to say, really. He didn't really stand out much from all the things and people that wanted to kill me. When you're fighting for your life 24/7/365 against uber-demons, demigods, and crazy arch-wizards...you tend to find it difficult to classify someone like Elminster as a non-foe. When Elminster keeps showing up trying to get you to stop being 'a pest' because he's a harper and harpers don't like non-neutral people...Elminster himself becomes a pest. I remember this one time I was on my way back to Athkatla after a serious bout of undead-defiled-temple cleansing in the Umar hills when he shows up and asks me to hang low for a bit...more like forever. I ask him why, and he tells me that "You just don't get it, do you, Angcuru? Bla bla bla bla bla harpers. Bla bla bla bla bla balance of power. Bla bla bla bla bla you be tippin' the scales of that balance, so stop it already." That made me kinda angry at his arrogant a**, so I told him to shove off and went about my business. I think the next time we met he really made me mad. I forget what happened, anyway, whatever did probably couldn't have stood out from all the stuff going on then, in the first place. I think I'll ask the missus....no, wait. She's busy baking a cake with Feayaana, don't want to interrupt her. Hold on....let me check my old journal for what actually happened. *Grabs book off of shelf.* Hmm...

Interviewer - "What is it?"

Angcuru - "Well, Elminster hasn't been seen anywhere for the past decade or so, right?"

Interviewer - "No he hasn't, but this wouldn't be the first time he took an extended vacation."

Angcuru - "That makes sense."

Interviewer - "That he would have taken a vacation?"

Angcuru - "No, that he hasn't been seen in over ten years. I wouldn't expect him to be seen, what with what happened to him."

Interviewer - "You didn't!"

Angcuru - "Hey, desperate times call for meddling wizard-slaying measures. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go help my wife bake a cake."

If someone knew a way to destory Iuz's Empire would Mordenkeinen come in and try to Interfere with that persons plans out of principle?

Been there, done that....well, sort of

If any of you had read my "Chinese Take-out" Story Hour you already know that the main villain, the evil Arch-Mage Morgarth, turned out to be a devil-possessed Mordenkainen. With assistance from the demigod Finder Wyvernspur the party was able to separate the evil from him and destroy it, returning the good Mordenkainen back to the world of Greyhawk.

And here's the kicker in regards to your question - the party's reward for this task was finding hidden treasure in Darkhold Castle, which worked out to around 1 Million gold.

Ah! Then now I have reason to kill him - he works for the other side now! But if he switched to evil, I'd kill him nonetheless: I don't mind the good guys - some of them are quite OK actually. What I really hate is order.
