Would you let your PC's become undead?

If a PC happens to have all his constitution drained by a vampire, and he later turns into a vampire, would you let your PC's play their newer and some might think improved characters?

He would become the new major npc villian- not only is he an evil vampire, but he knows the pc's well. He knows their tactics, strengths, and weaknesses.

Sounds.. excellent.

What's your character's reasoning on wanting to become an undead creature that no longer can enjoy the pleasures of the world? Just curious on your character's background for going out of your way to become an undead creature as opposed to getting power through another means.

IceBear

My character was raised in a monastary and has never sought worldly pleasures. He is singly devoted to his monastery, close friends (most of the party), and his goddess. The concept is a character that can best serve his goddess as a champion. Seeking out new magics to become an death knight that does not become inherently evil, and serves int he ability to evenly deal out death. The powers are secondary really to the "cool" look. heck I spent most of my character's wealth on a "cool looking" sword. Its a +1 acidic (like flaming) longsword. Cost close to 15k, takes a standard action to manifest, and has a reserve power point requirement. It just looks down-right cool. It all about the appearance. Why else would I buy a ferroplasm shield? Why else would I wear a cloak made from tke skin of a dragon I helped slay?

I gotta say that I have alot more sympathy for the gamers that want to look 'kewl' than those that want 'kewl' abilities.

The decision to have non-evil undead, and especially non-evil death knights (which were originally all CE I believe) is pretty campaign specific, but hey, if your DM thinks having Death Knights as the servants of a LN goddess of death is cool, I can see where he (or she) is coming from. I'd probably also work it up as more of a prestige class than a template, so it sounds like you are in good hands.

I'm courious as to just who the goddess sends you after in your capacity of 'angel of death' and why? Do you primarily slay other undead, those that try to thwart the Goddess in her divine duty of collecting the souls of the dead for passage into the next life? I would think that as a servant of a LN goddess of death, there would be severe limitations on who you could kill, because hey, 'Fate says it is not your time yet.'

Um... isn't that the epic only enhancement?

Mine is a +1 effect similar to flaming.

No, it's not epic. It's a +1 enhancement from Magic of Faerun. :) There are three acid based weapon enhancements: corrosive (+1), acidic burst (+2), and acidic blast (+6). The first two are in Magic of Faerun. The last is in the ELH. Nice enhancements if you ask me. :)

+3d6 acid on a normal hit. On a crit, it instead deals +6d6 (x2), +9d6 (x3), or +12d6 (x4). :D

Or +15d6 for a x5...

Perfect for an epic Deepwood Sniper. :D

With a wand of Hunter's Mercy.
