My kids (now ages 5, 8 and 10) have not seen any of them yet. Just before III comes out I plan to watch the videos of I and II with them, then see III at the threaters, then IV to VI on video again. Should make for a fun week that summer.

Oh, Ewoks aren't so bad. Not when you compare them with Gungans, anyway. At least Lucas was able to keep some vertically-challenged people in employment in Jedi. How did creating Gungans help anyone? Except for that Ahmed Best guy, who should crawl back under the Stomp rock from whence he came.

I would definitely see a marathon. Admittedly though, Episode 3 will have to be a splashy musical to ruin it for me. I am fanboy, hear me roar.

I've met people who watch Highlander marathons. Now those guys have got issues.

Well, I answered yes, but only to the orignal trilogy marathon. I actually did this once when I discovered that two of my good friends in high school actually hadn't seen Star Wars. I kidnapped them one weekend and educated them. :D

No way, no how. Too much time between productions, and change in overall production values for the series. There is a disconnect between the original series and the new vision. I voted no!

I said no, because sitting around doing nothing but watching a TV for that long would drive me insane. And it would have to be on a TV, there's NO way I would sit in a theater for 12 hours. If I were at home, and snowed in, then I might possibly be up for it, but I'd probably be doing serious fast-forwarding through some parts, especially in Episode 2.

My pet theory is that what went "wrong" with SW was The Empire Strikes Back. "How can that be?" you ask. Easy. It was so moving, so much a richer story than the first Star Wars that it raised the bar to an unprecedented level. Now if ESB had been more or less on par with RotJ, I don't think we would think the same way about SW, and keep hoping that Lucas will somehow get it right again.

Yeah, I can see that. I think Return of the Jedi matched Empire on the story level when it came to the final confrontation between Luke, Vader, and The Emperor, but the whole Ewok part definitely detracts from it. I think what really went wrong was that somewhere after Empire Strikes Back, Lucas realized that he could make more money by trying to cater to everyone at once..hence the introduction of the Ewoks to appease the little kiddies. It worked, in spades. And as a result its become the formula for most sci-fi/fantasy epics since...always have an element that appeals to kids, and always come in at a PG rating.

What Lucas had going for him was a lot of goodwill built up by the first two movies. Most people who hated the Ewoks could forgive the movie because they really wanted to see what would happen between Luke and Vader, and thankfully, Lucas delivered there. Fast forward to Episode I...new cast, new story, and a lot of time has passed. I don't think Lucas had that same "goodwill" built up for these movies, so it was a lot easier for people to look at it critically, and simply say "Wow, these suck!"

I said no, because it might involve seeing that stupid little brat going 'whopeeee!' again. I'd watch the second trilogy, and I'd consider seeing Eps2-3 if 3 maintaisn the level of 2, but holy crap on a pogo stick I am never watching Ep1 ever again.
