Wreck ashore (El Jefe judging) (Finished)

Wilhem shouts his disgust for the snake before it has an opportunity to strike, and lunges with his spear, which slides on the reptile´s hard scales without harm and sink in the sand. That leaves him vulnerable to the snake´s sharp fangs, but the cleric deflects it´s head using the buckler. The snake hisses in pain and prepares for another lightning fast bite.

Then Hulgyr steps side by side with Wilhem. Having draw the greatsword, his grip isn´t secure enough, and the snake swiftly evades the attack, but only by an inch. Eroin and Roddick hear the battle and wonder what´s going on.

[Everyone fails, updated initiative:

Eroin: 16+5=21
Wilhem 17+1=18
Snake 4+3 =7
Roddick 3+3=6 (better Dex)
Hulgyr: 5+1=6.]

As Hulgyr sees wilhelm move around the snake he picks up the hint and takes a step to maneuver the snake right between the two of them. Having done this, he takes another brutal swing woth his sword.

Hulgyr takes a 5ft step to gain flanking bonus with Wilhelm. He then takes another attack at the snake, although uses power attack+1.
Attack: d20+7=26, damage:2d6+8 15

edit: that was a critical threat, confirmation: 17

edit 2: if a 5ft step isn't enough for flanking, Hulgyr moves further to gain flanking position.

Roddick hears the cries from his adventuring mates and decides to rush into melee.

He will charge (From what I've seen on the map that's possible) the snake, using his reach to it's full extent.

OOC: Roddick will keep second watch, the darkness isn't a problem, since we're outside.
For the next round, Roddick's action will probably be to move behind one of his friend that has a flanking bonus to get the same, or move around the snake to flank together with Eroin.
But only if this doesn't provoke an AoO.

Rodac jumps on the boat –clearly he´s not a warrior-

Wilhem holds tightly the spear, but the agile snake is too quick to present a clear target, even when Eroin just arrived to help with it.

The snake darts forward, aiming for Wilhem´s arm and tries to wrap around him. Fortunately, the cleric is bigger and more armoured than the snake´s prey and he continues free and suffering only a pair of long painful scratches, but worrying about the poison. [4 damage] After picking his glaive, Roddicks strides to close with the snake too.

Finally, one of Hulgyr´s brutal swings connect with the snake. With a “thud”, half the reptile flies high in the air and lands on the bushes, fifteen feet from you. The rest wriggle around for a couple seconds before realizing it´s dead.

Examining the wound, Wilhem is relieved to discover that the snake wasn´t poisonous after all.

[ooc: With Hulgyr´s critical, the other character´s action were only a matter of seeing if it could hurt one of you or not. With that in mind, I NPCd Eroin this time for the sake of pace. I made her charge and use 1 stunning attack, but she failed to hit.]

Wilhelm examines his wound, wincing only slightly from the pain. When he is content that the wound has no poison in it, he prays to Ayratha to heal the wound.

Ignian:
Lady of the Gauntlet, by your will, let your servant's wounds be mended by the fires of your forge.

The scratches fade from view as muscle and flesh knit themselves back into their proper place.

OOG1: Coverting Shield of Faith into a CLW spell. Cure Light Wounds (1d8+1=4)

OOG2: Wilhelm's usual spell selection
Orisons- Detect Magic, Light, Mending
1st Level- Bless, Shield of Faith, Enlarge Person (D)

As Hulgyr sunders the snake apart he rushes to his comrade to check up on him. When he sees that the cleric relieves himself from his injury he smiles, gives him a good smack on his shoulder and hollers: Well fought friend! We stand strong together! I'll be looking forward to fighting battle together soon!.
He returns with the cleric (ooc: i presume Wilhelm will also want to report back to the rest) to the rest of the group and reports that the minor threat is now no longer one.
Hulgyr keeps his greatsword at hand as they continue thier search for firewoord (ooc: as soon as Wilhelm comes along).

Wilhelm is slightly shaken by the Orc's powerful but friendly pat on the back, but he gives a companionable girn to Hulgyr. It appears to me that the battle ended by your strong hands, Hulgyr. That was a mighty blow if I've ever seen one!

Hmmm... we should watch our steps in the future, however. That could have been a poisonous serpent!
He rubs his formerly wounded arm with some worry as he walks with Hulgyr to the rest of the party. I shall need to pray to my Lady come the dawn to regain the favor I've used today.

The party gathers around what´s left of the serpent, and soon Rodac joins. "Good thing is nobody is hurt" says the fisherman, not knowing of Wilhem´s prayer. "And that you´re skilled with the iron. "It´s true what they say about the marshes, only skilled people should travel here, and I´ll think on my 2 silver coins as well earned."

So, though you still can feel more dangerous creatures lurking, there is no further problem on gathering enough wood for the night. The stars circle around you, and fortunately nothing else worth of mention happens, until it´s hour to board the boat again.

Edit: the snake fight is worth 150 xp for everyone.
