Writing in the Gygax style

my attempt.

Reckless Berserk Defiance (Extraordinary): A member of the barbarian class may call upon the reservoir of his internal heritage a predicated number of times per rotation of the axis. In this mental state, the benefactor temporarily gains a +4 increment to his ability score (i.e. Strength and Constitution) and a similar +2 boost in morale (as per the spell Bless or with regard to the Bard’s ability to inspire) on Will saves. This benefit is countermanded with an inability to protect or apathy towards receiving injury which results in a -2 penalty to Armor Class. As with any increase in Constitution the results cause an increase in the barbarian’s hit points by 2 points per level, but these hit points are lost at the end of the frenzy at which time his Constitution score drops back to normal. (This is not an increase in temporary hit points and as such they are not lost at the beginning of injuries sustained in combat. See Constitution for further explanation.) A fit of rage lasts for a number of segments equal to 3 + the character’s (newly revised) Constitution modifier. A barbarian may quell his fervor and end his rage. At the end of the rage; the barbarian suffers the loss of the previously revised modifiers and restrictions, and becomes overcome with lactic acid [(-2 penalty to Strength and Dexterity) and inability to charge or run)] for the duration of the current encounter (exceptions to this state include but are not limited to a 17th-level barbarian, at which point this limitation no longer applies; for further exceptions see below).

3E:
"True Strike
You gain temporary, intuitive insight into the immediate future during your next attack. Your next single attack roll (if it is made before the end of the next round) gains a +20 insight bonus. Additionally, you are not affected by the miss chance that applies to attackers trying to strike a concealed target.
Focus: A small wooden replica of an archery target."

E.G.G.:
The recipient of this powerful dweomer gains a sudden, fleeting image of his opponent's movements in the immediate future, allowing him to anticipate the enemy's precise position and stance. In consequence, he may deliver a puissant blow or thrust against his foe, striking with a bonus of +20 on his to hit roll (insight). If the defender should be concealed (see rules regarding Concealment), such concealment is ineffective against the true strike: no miss chance applies against the devastating accuracy of the blow. The focus for this spell is a small wooden disk, with concentric circles inscribed thereon.

Sorry, it was a joke. :) Your first sentence had me laughing for all of five minutes. :)

no problemo. i could only come up with the one sentence after that my whole idea fell flat. :o

besides, i forgot to breakout my 1edADnD books last night. so i had to wing the style from memory.

and you know what they say about memory.

btw, what do they say about memory? i can't remember. :(

Reading Diaglo's post, it is apophthegmatic that the man is truly familair with his late 70's Gygaxian locution. It possesses a style that the later Gygaxian periods were exigent of.
