Writing in the Gygax style

Olgar,

Dear colleague, I believe you have exceeded the parameters of our prestigious pedagogy. The institution of a 600 level class falls outside of our curricula for our BA RPG and should be reserved for such graduate studies as we may deign to offer in the future. I submit that our curricula should terminate thusly with the traditional 490/495 offering and bear the title of Special Topics in Gygaxian Locutions.

The best thread EVER on the boards was when we did this, Gary joined and posted for the first time. . . and no one believed him. :D

LOL!

That's about the funniest thing I have heard in a loooong time.

BTW, anyone know if EGG is still doing a Q&A thread here?

"on friends to more and better loot" - Think this is the correct quote from Book 3 (Diagolo - please feel free to correct me)

What's wrong with you guys!? I haven't seen a single unnecessary antiquated abbreviation here. Where are all the "cf."s and "q.v."s?

Perhaps because the good writers have naught but nil experence with such formulations. I.e., they have had but a passing acquaintence with this sort of usage.

E.G.G.:
The recipient of this powerful dweomer gains a sudden, fleeting image of his opponent's movements in the immediate future, allowing him to anticipate the enemy's precise position and stance. In consequence, he may deliver a puissant blow or thrust against his foe, striking with a bonus of +20 on his to hit roll (insight). If the defender should be concealed (see rules regarding Concealment), such concealment is ineffective against the true strike: no miss chance applies against the devastating accuracy of the blow. The focus for this spell is a small wooden disk, with concentric circles inscribed thereon.

I think that's perfect Gygax.
