A peek behind the Iron Curtain
This update has been a long time coming, and we thank you for your patience! We are hard at work on the Iron Kingdoms Campaign Guide: Full Metal Fantasy. Clearly, the book is quite a bit behind schedule, and there are a number of good reasons for this, though some of them present some difficulties yet to come as well. For starters, we're retooling much of the book. Part of this is quality control and part of this is to make the book 3.5 compatible. Hopefully, this added delay will be worth it to have the most current rules set presented in the Campaign Guide.
Another issue hits a bit closer to home. One of our chief artists as well as a founder of Privateer Press, Brian Snoddy, has for a while been suffering difficulties in his 'working arm' due to some old sports injuries. It's hard to hold a paint brush when you can't feel your fingers. We've been doing everything we can to help him get through this, and the good news is that the condition promises to improve, but this book would not be what we have all envisioned and hoped for without his incredible artwork, so we are committed to giving him the time necessary to recover so that he can resume creating the stunning images that define the Iron Kingdoms.
The status of the Campaign Guide is still a bit nebulous at this point with all of the variables we must contend with. Convention season will only further impact our timeline. However, we expect to be sending the book to press near the end of the summer, and shipping it shortly after that. We'll deliver on our promise to bring you the best book we possibly can, but it's going to take just a bit longer than we anticipated. In the meantime, we hope to have a much more frequent flow of information on our newly rebuilt website, and we are happy to present the first in an irregular series of articles that will provide a glimpse into the creation of the Campaign Guide. So, follow your guide, Dalt Meerjak, as he begins your tour of the fantastic world of the Iron Kingdoms. Feast your eyes on a few of the many wonderous images that will be presented in the book, featuring our own favorite Brian Snoddy, and the most excellent newcomer, Jeremy Jarvis. Enjoy...the best is yet to come.
