X-Files Type Game- COC or Spycraft

Epic Commoner
Which would be better to run for an "Alien Conspiricay" type thing. Think Perfect Dark for those of you who have (had) N64. Which system would work better, Spycraft or CoC?

Thanks

Both of them.

For me, X-Files was perfectly simulated using Dark*Matter (an Alternity setting, a wonderful one). And for me, Spycraft + CoC d20 = Dark*Matter = X-Files, as I've already said in another thread. Buy both of them (wonderful books!) and mix them.

Conspiracy X

If you are doing an X-Files type game, you have to get the Conspiracy X rulebook (either the standard one or the recently released GURPS one).

It would be relatively easy to incorporate the world and more importantly the cell creation system into either Spycraft or CoC.

There have been times when we spent the whole session outfitting our cell and had a blast doing it.

If you're going for a "Conspiracy Theory" type setting, I'd say Spycraft since the rulebook lets you build the mastermind of the conspiracy.

However, if you going for the "Monster of the Week" setting, I'd definitely go with CoC.

Well, I am running a Delta Green game using a bastardized amalgam of CoC and Spycraft, so I'd say use both! But most important, use the Delta Green setting if you want an X-Files conspiracy style game with the Mythos.

Or better yet, buy CoC and Spycraft d20 now and waitr for the near future Delta Green with both Chaoisium and d20 stats... :)
