I got my "XCrawl" setting book in the mail today! I just had time to briefly scan through it before coming to work (actually, it made me a little bit late to work), and I was impressed by what I saw.

The contents are more background and setting than actual rules, but when you think about it, that makes since. It gives a complete alternate history and setting for our world, incorporating magic, demihuman races and monsters. Most of the actual d20 game mechanics, you already know if you play 3E D&D.

There are rules additions for some new weapons -- including firearms -- new armor, new equipment, some new spells and some new monsters. Also a world specific race of dark elves.

One thing I was disappointed with -- no interior color art. The artwork that is used is good, I just wish some of it would've been in color. I know that would increase the price, but it would've been nice.

I can't wait to get back home and examine it in depth.

Glad you liked it! We would have liked to do interior color, but budget didn't agree with it at the time. Who knows, if there is a second edition in our future, maybe we can squeeze in some of that color...

But I will say this: the art is getting better and better. The GM Screen art rocks, and what we've got in house for the Guild Book is really sharp. And, if you need an adventure, then you will DEFINITELY want the GM Screen. The Pro/Am Crawl is TOO MUCH fun!

Could you post the domains for your Roman pantheon on your website? They aren't in the Xcrawl book, and I don't want to buy the GM screen just for the domains.

I just got my copy of XCrawl yesterday. I spent yesterday and today going through it. I was just expecting it to focus totally on the X-Crawl games and pretty much ignore the world outside. Boy was I suprised. It has a very detailed and nice setting to boot. It reads fairly easily and in general is just a nice book. I love the setting, the X-Crawl game and just about everything about it. :) I can't wait for more stuff to come out, even if I'm unlikely to ever get a chance to play it.

I'd love to see fiction set in the world of X-Crawl. Keep up the good work. :)

I am having alot of fun with the hard back version. I just bought the Kalamar screen however, and you have to do a good selling job to get me to buy yet another DM's screen. So let's hear your sale's pitch for the screen.
