Xmen type characters

I spend a lot of money buying clearance items from the local RPG shops. I don't worry about learning the rules, but I blend all of the special abilities, psychic abilities, spells, effects from magic items, etc. together and use them whatever purpose I need. Someone could easily use those types of things to create superhero characters.

Items could be used to simulate a lot of the abilities they use.

Cyclops: A visor that can shoot out searing light.

Storm: Cloak of weather control.

Wolverine: Gauntlets of the bear (or more fitingly, the wolverine).

Nitecrawler: blink cloak.

Collosus: Girdle of Iron Golem Strength.

Angel: Wings of Flying.

Iceman: Wand of Frost.

Not quite what you were looking for, but it may give you some ideas and options:rolleyes:

And I'd love to see what people think Cyclops Eye Beams should be in D&D terms.

Marvel has stated that Cyclop's eye-beams are a kinetic attack, not laser, light, etc. Hence, in 3e, a Force effect. Incorporeals, beware!

Also, he has the ability to narrow/widen the beam spread from cone to ray, and probably spread, through his visor. Without it, it would be field-of-view (roughly 1/4 sphere).

I think it's really hard to do in 3e b/c spells and like-abilities take time to cast/activate and some spells have components. Psions work better but they're powers aren't as powerful as arcane spells.

Now if you made the abilities Extraordinary it would be a different story.
