[XRP] Just what is in A Magical Society: Beast Builder anyway?

I have it and it looks very yummy. In skimming it, I learned something new- the correct definition of parasitoid (I remember it as a parasite of a parasite, which is wrong).

Giving the sources of the special abilities is very cool, though I was suprised to see that only 2 (ish) sources were used (I was hoping that the polarizing and erase abilities from Minions 3.5 were in it). Still with that many abilites, there really isn't that much missing.

Give me a few days and I will do a minireview here.

Have bought it and am now printing it out. :D

Have a nice binder all ready for it.

Joe and Suzi, I think the two of you have another winning product here.

So be all offical like---

The PDF versions of A Magical Society: Beast Builder are now available at rpgnow.com and drivethrurpg.com for $13.50. The drivethrurpg.com version is watermarked, not DRM.

Hmmm, today or tomorrow is the only question... Whether or not has already been decided...

The Auld Grump, RPGNow is already decided as well, yes, me precious...

Sounds good, glad you learned something. :)

We included Monster Geographica: Underground as the second source since it pulls creatures from over 20 different monster books. I would have liked to include more, but I didn't want that section to dominate the book completely. I'm toying with the idea of making additional SA/SQ lists for other books and releasing them as PDFs but I don't know If I have the time to do so.

Thanks Anna. I hope we have a good response to it. Like all the magical society books it's a little different, but this one is probably the most accessible to the general gaming public.

And I'd like to ad that Dimensions Games Software has just released Beast Builder: A Digital Companion.

We've worked with Jeff from Dimensions to create a random monster generator that's loosely based upon the random(ish) generator found at the end of A Magical Society: Beast Builder. It generates a random creature within set parameters and pulls from the massive SA/SQ lists as found in Beast Builder. It's great for brainstorming and making creatures on the fly. But remember, you may have to tweek the creatures a bit, cause well sometime random creatures have the most random abilities... :D

I've downloaded my comp copy this morning. :)
I'm very pleased to see the final product, though as a content reader I've seen most of it before, it's a different thing to have the real deal. Joe has been absolutely throughout in the book.

Thanks for the kind words, KO. It's always an exciting time to watch the text files turn into a real book. Oddly enough, it's a lot easier for me to read as a laid-out book/PDF than as text files as well.
