Yakfolk -- Why the jokes?

I think they look rather intimidating myself....

I imagine if you were a lichen farmer, I would be intimidated as hell.

In 2e, did they drop treasure type P?

I imagine they'd be pretty popular with the Otyugh Boss monster from Tonguez sig.

Minotaurs? I don't know. I'm hardly an expert on them. I'm sure someone will come around and answer your questions about the bullfolk soon enough....

Suddenly, I want to write a shaggy-dog story of an adventure about a mysterious marauder of the planes.
How about an anachronistic interplanar cabaret (le Modron Rouge)?

True, but the minotaur has different connotations (labyrinths and all that stuff), so you think of bestial half-man-half-bull-things. Plus "minotaur" sounds better...

If we'd call them "cowfolk", "cattlefolk", or "bullfolk"... erm... you get my drift. AND "yak" is already a much more silly name.

Mooo, LT.

Call them Battle-Cattle. Or Cowlaxians in a Sci-Fi universe.
