That sounds like a very exciting campaign. I've often thought that the Warhammer Fantasy world and rules would be a great fit for a pirate-themed campaign.

And shouldn't that be Orkish Waaagghhh! Canoes? :D

Ahhh, WHFRP, or "Mutilations and Madness" as my players have taken to calling it. I just recently began a Norscan raiders campaign with them, which is shaping up nicely. Hope your players understand that it's limb loss that makes you a real pirate :D
Good luck with your new campaign!

Man now my WHFRP 2nd ed game that I just started this weekend sounds boring ;)

We have...
Human Apprentice Wizard (named Skillet, who’s ‘Hand Weapon’ is a frying pan and is afraid to use magic it seems)
Human Squire (who is really strong but the most unhealthy fellow with a 26 Toughness)
Dwarf Shieldbreaker (great at just about everything except that he has a 13 Agility!)
Dwarf Initiate (of the Dwarf gods, some what mix of Urilc and Sigmar right now for spells if he ever gets them… the smartest fellow in the group also, about 9 pts more then the Wizard)

They helped out some Halflings in the first game and now are off to investigate some missing sheep in a small town in the foothills of the Grey Mountains... then help some Wizard investigate some strange lights in the Howling Hills and eventually I am going to lead them to Bretonnia (where the Squire is from) and play through the Mousillon adventure (Barony of the Damned) just cause I like it.

Best part of the first game was everyone missing the bloody trail through the woods to look for bandits (Easy +30% Perception test, I let them try a second time and they all failed again... finally the merchent who had been robbed pointed them the right way), or the first battle were it was four rounds before anyone scored a hit against an opponent (we described it as fighting with your eyes closed)

I love Warhammer :D

Well the game last night went very well. It wasn't the best session that I've ever run but it went quite well considering all the intro stuff that I had to convey. Oh, and it had, hands down, the best opening line that I think I've ever used for any of my campaigns:

"You awake in chains with the reek of vomit filling the cramped, stale air around you."

The whole party had been press ganged aboard an Imperial Privateer. The were released from their bonds and put to work aboard the ship.

The highlights included:

The female Halfling cook on the ship brazenly flirting with BOTH of the Halfling PC's "It's been some time since I had myself some Moot-meat!"

The Halfling Bone Picker angering and embarassing the ship's Mate ("Dirty Jan") TWICE. There is bound to be trouble there soon.

The Toughest guy in the party (the Elf Ferryman of all people) failing five toughness tests in a row such that he was seasick for the first five days of the voyage. The other sailors are calling him "The Puke Fairy" behind his back.

My first real running of my ship to ship combat system that held up surprisingly well. They exchanged a couple broadsides with a more heavily armed merchant ship and then closed and boarded her.

The HALFLING SCRIBE was the first over the rail, dashing through a throng of merchant sailors and taking attacks from several of them. With 2 Wounds left he managed to fight off the one that chased him and successfully attack AND parry with a Weapon Skill of 21!

The rest of the party acquitted themselves fairly well for a few rounds before the Privateer's gunner fired their bow chaser full of grapeshot into a mass of the merchant sailors who were defending the quarterdeck. Combined with the Privateer Captain (a dwarf woman) taking down the merchant Captain with a pistol shot, that ended the combat and the merchant surrendered a cargo of spices.

The next adventure will be them trying to limp the ship back to a friendly port with a skeleton crew. After that it's anybody's guess. Will they try to jump ship in port? Will they try to mutiny? Will they try and steal a ship's boat and row for the nearest shore?

It'll be fun finding out!

This may sound sarcastic, but it's actually not. I think that's a great starting hook for low level characters of any system. :D
