After searching the bodies for anything useful, (their spears), Cait Sith shoulders his pack, and seeing if he can move off the path to avoid detection, he heads down the pass in the direction from which the soldiers came.

Cait continues along the path. Eventually, he stands on high ground and looks ahead. He can see A palace situated on a large rock outcropping. Along the path toward the palace are various tents with different colorful banners. Soldiers sit around campfires while their horses graze or drink water. Cait doesn't see the particular soldier that ran from the last battle. From his position behind a bush he is not visible by the soldiers as far as he can tell.

Cait Sith decides to stay where he is a moment longer and look for other entrances into the camp.

From his position, Cait can't tell if the soldiers surround the entire castle or not. However, he can see that the castle is built on a rock outcropping, which is quite steep on all sides.

Cait Sith attempts to sneak a bit closer to the closest camp. Close enough to hear what the soldiers are discussing. He also keeps an open eye out for lone soldiers of about his build which he can ambush for a uniform.

The soldiers are seated in groups of five to twenty around fires where various meats and other foods are being cooked. The discipline looks quite slack, with several soldiers drinking from wineskins or clay jars. Some of the soldiers are singing drinking songs (most with baudy lyrics) while others discuss mundane subjects. Most of the soldiers are of a light build while there are a few with a larger build around. Cait overhears one soldier (a lieutenant, apparently) talking about how they are safe protecting Meng Huo's castle as long as the pass is closed to the imperial armies. Occasionally, soldiers drift away from their groups in order to urinate. At the same time, soldiers drift in and out of their tents and from group to group.

Cait Sith begins to look for a likely tent that he might be able to sneak into in order to steal some uniforms.

Should Cait decide to sneak into a tent, the one right in front of him looks as good as any. There are five soldiers, one of whom is a lieutenant, drinking around a camp fire. They are in between Cait and the tent. Cait is concealed by rock and shrubbery (sp?) from where he is crouching.
