(YBA) Kalath in the Sewers of the City of the Bard

The Story thus far... Kalath, having taken service under the evil Lich Wicht, finds himself under obligation not to kill too many of Wicht's other servants. Having no real "job" at the moment, he undertakes to explore parts of the lair over which Wicht maintains little real control and subsequently heads into the City of the Bard (the fifth level of the lair). There he seeks out the sewers under the city and having found them he begins to explore them, having been warned by demons of the cultist that frequent the sewers.

Having eased his way past the slugs Kalath heads north. The tunnel continues along without incident except for the occassional splashings of rats. Smaller tunnels, too small for a man, feed into this tunnel, brown water trickling slowly down the walls and onto the floor of the larger tunnel. Finally the tunnel Kalath is walking comes to a "T." Kalath can go either east or west. On the wall North of him a white frog has been painted with an arrow pointing to the west.

Kalath heads west.

After a few hundred yards, Kalath passes a spot on the wall where another white toad has been painted. The tunnel continues to the west.

Kalath investigates the section of the wall that the toad has been painted upon, checking for irregularities or secrets.

If he does not find any, he continues west.

 

[Wicht]

That section of wall, once examined does appear to be a passage of some sort. A further examination shows a small latch in a crevice between two bricks. A click later and a portion of the wall swings open revealing a small hallway.

Kalath walks into the passage he discovered and starts down the hallway.

 

[Wicht]

The hallway is not very long and there is a door at the other end. The door is locked.

Kalath examines the door and the lock, trying to see if it is locked from the inside or not. If the lock is external, he attempts to break it off.

 

[Wicht]

The lock is on the other side. There does appear to be a sliding panel in the top part of the door for people on the inside to open and talk to people on the outside.

Deciding that he is doubtful to succeed in getting past the door, Kalath leaves this frog passageway and heads back to the first frog he saw painted on the wall, and searches it to see if he can find another passage.
