(YBA) Kalath in the Sewers of the City of the Bard

Backtracking to the first painted frog Kalath saw produces no results. Apparently the arrow and the painted frog are exactly what they seem to be, a sign pointing west.

The tunnel continues for quite a ways past the secret door. It eventually comes to an end in a round room, perhaps eight feet in diameter. The floor is raised here and there is what appears to be a stone well with an iron lid on it. The lid has a bar on top holding it in place.

The bar slides easily out, allowing the lid to be lifted. A shaft into the earth is revealed. It is small enough that at the top a man could work his way down slowly without rope, but it is deep enough that Kalath can not see how far he could go that way.

The shaft goes down and down until the opening above him is can no longer be seen in the darkness.

After at least a sixty foot descent, Kalath becomes aware of a dripping noise below him. Angling his lamp he can see that the shaft will end after another foot or two and that there is a floor of water about fifteen feet below that.

Kalath decides not to drop down just yet, and climbs back up. Once back up, he heads to the east, going past the two painted frogs and going east from the T intersection where he saw the first painted frog.

The climb up is longer and harder than the climb down but eventually Kalath reaches the top. Going back east through the tunnels of the sewer, he passes the secret door, still hanging open and then the painted frog and arrow across from the southern tunnel.

As he heads east, rats once again can be seen. However, not long after the south tunnel, Kalath spots another painting on the tunnel wall, this time on the south end. It is the picture of a red rat.

Kalath first goes to close the door at the white frog, then goes back to the picture of the red rat and continues eastwards past it.
