(YBA) Kalath in the Sewers of the City of the Bard

"No, old one, it is not yet time. I am no cultist."

"How were you brought here? And is there anything you can tell me about these cultists or their temple? Do you have any knowledge of what lies beyond the south doors or behind the locked door at the west end of this hall?"

The man grows sulky! In a croaky voice he begins to wail at Kalath, rising from his seat as he does so, tottering towards the fighter unsteadily.

"What do you mean! You are not here to bring me to the ceremony! I want my black robe! I ain't wore a black robe in ages! And where are those two young virgins I was promised!

...I warn you, I have been looking forward to this for weeks! I don't get a lot of excitement at my age so you better gets outta here unless you are prepared to take me to the altar room!"

"Heh. Fool. Just stay here until the cultists come, then. You've made your choice."

Kalath leaves, closing the door behind him, and goes to the door at the west end of the hall, and tries to break its lock.

The thunder vanquishes the ravine; grasps the energy of the river!

The door slams shut and Kalath can no longer hear the man's whining. The girls, still looking out of their door, and having overheard the conversation giggle...

The last lock also snaps under Kalath's fierce blow and as the door begins to swing open, Kalath hears a distinct mooing sound come out of the room. Sure enough, standing within the room (which is in complete shambles, all the furnishings almost completely ruined) is a large milk cow with a small calf (perhaps a month old) at her side. The cow swings her head and stares at Kalath balefully with large bovine eyes. Kalath also notices that there is a large pile of hay in the north-western corner of the room.

"Heh. Of all things, a cow. The cultists must be getting desperate."

Chuckling, Kalath goes to the door on the south wall at the far easten end, and tries to open it.

The door opens easily and Kalath sees a very long, stone hall going south, lit by a single torch in the middle. At the other end of the hallway, on the western side of the hall are two doors about 5 feet apart.

The door opens and reveals a hallway running north. There is a wall immediately to the left of the door and there is another door on the opposite (west) wall at the far northern end of the hall. There are also two black robed figures in here, standing at the other end of the hall and though they are hooded, it is clear from the way the hoods turn his direction that they see Kalath.

The cultist appear slightly befuddled, though their faces cannot be seen.

"The summoning does not begin for another six hours, so you are not late yet." says one

"You are not dressed properly." says the other.
