A pillar of fire engulfs the orc. It hasn't even time to scream before it shrivels to ash like a burning leaf. With a thought, you direct the pillar of fire towards the fire mage... but the fires die down, and you take 1 hit from his scorching wind.

Nonetheless, the mage shuffles back, his eyes too wide. With a curse on his lips, he turns on his heel and runs like a whipped dog. Seeing this, the surviving orc also moves to flee. Behind it, many of the other orcs seem to be losing heart despite the best efforts of the whip-wielding overseers.

Your throw injures the orc for 1 hit. It runs into the chaotic melee that now spills out across the width of the pass, with orcs running wildly about.

"For Osberry!" the soldiers shout. They press against the encircling orcs. Droplets of blood sparkle in the swirling, smoky sunbeams.

Looking through the pass, you can see a city of red stone among rocky hills. A wall of fire springs up, then, as the mage raises it in order to make good his escape.
