Year of the BIG BOOKS?

I predict that 65.4321% of the gaming groups who start these adventures never finish due to the "geeze! does thing ever end?" factor, and want for something else. I mean, how many actually played out all of the Necropolis (~250 pages)? I might be wrong, of course.

Having said, that, I'll probably shell out for at least one :heh:

I think I would much prefer a great big book than a box set. The box set comes with so many little books that can get misplaced. I think 'the big book' is easier to keep track of.

The 4 Accordlands Books ($39.95 each, 300+ pages average) will be released this Fall.

Excellent. The best game ever finally gets it's campaign setting printed. And it will be mine.

I don't genuinely know how I feel about all these giant-sized products just yet really. I have a funny feeling that a lot of retailers won't be ordering these except by special order, so I might not be able to see them before buying them, which would be problematic to me. The Warlord book I'll buy blind, but the others I certainly need to see first.

We hope that the Cult of Yex Campaign sourcebook will be a great value with the eight modules, detailed city settings, new monsters, spells, magic items and the like. It is designed to be dropped into any campaing setting with minimal trouble. Six of the modules have extra-planar components, with two of them taking place almost entirely on the Astral Plane, and the final module taking place almost entirely on the Abyss, with the party having to choose the lesser of two evils in a demon war.

I don't know if you guys have discussed this, but you might consider taking a page from Malhavic. When AU was released in hardback, certain sections were available as inexpensive pdf files. I wouldn't buy your entire book for just the city settings, or the Abyss module, but I'd certainly consider buying a pdf of just those pieces.

Just throwing out something to consider...

Good thinking! I (this is Davis at TLG) should have a better idea as to how this is going to be approached within a few weeks. Then sometime in the near future (closer than I originally planned) we will start giving more complete information on this adventure.

Imagine, a demon war at Xmas, what more could you ask for?

I think Mongoose is also putting out a big adventure, though I can't remember the expected page count, etc.

I'm pretty sure it was a 1st-20+ level deal, though.

wasn't it 3x256 page books?

Is that a problem, if the group enjoys the campaign/adventure up to the point at which they stop?

Ugh... see, if it was just 1, I'd buy a massive book just for collectability and the read through. Looks like I'm going to have to use the EN World reviews of the finished products when they come around to it...

I'm not saying I'm upset with the content, just that... I'm a little bit overwhelmed. I will buy one massive adventure though.
