Yes to 4th edition

2e worked fine for me. I had years and years of fun playing 2e.

(though in truth I played 2.5 because I mixed some stuff from 1e in it... mainly spells and some monster...)

Kits didn't bother me either. You just need to use them right.

PRCs and feats don't either. I think too many people let the players walk all over the campaign and just blame their problems on feats and prcs.

If I keep hearing about Vancian magic being kept for 4E, I will Internet-punch somebody in the face.

Just so long as it is yourself. We don't cotton to abusing other posters around here, but you can abuse yourself all you like. :)

I'm sorry you don't seem to like it, but vancian magic is simple ("Three from column X, two from column Y, now go at it!"), and is a pretty sacred cow. Don't expect it to be dropped from the core.

There's nothing to indicate the new edition will be worse than 3rd edition - and it certainly can't get a whole lot worse than 3.5 lets face it.

See, kids? This is why one should never drink and post.

Let's see some positive 4e threads, dagummit! :p

Okay.

4E -- whenever it comes -- will afford us all the opportunity to experience D&D again for the first time, as when 3.0 came out. Some of us may decide that we like the old way better -- as some did with 3.0 -- and some may be floored by its pure awesomeness -- as many were with 3.0. But in either case, we -- the gamers -- get to decide what D&D is, because it is our buying habits that spell success or doom for any edition.

Positive enough?

The questions with 4e will be whether it can both satisfy the existing audience (that's us) while also attracting new people to the game...and still leave us with some beer and pizza money after buying all the new stuff we'll need. :)

Everyone hopes for something different with a new editon and I sure as hell hope "prestige classes" are buried deep in the 3.5 muck along with the formulaic feats+race+PrC combo.
Lets see the 4 heroic archetype of wizard, warrior, rogue and priest come to the fore.

And here's where the troll fails on the troll-o-meter. Arguing against something he calles 'formulaic' while calling for the most formulaic thing of all...

Formula is another way of saying stereotype. And stereotypes exist for lazy people to use, and everyone else to break.
