Yet some more Attack of Opportunity Questions?

How many attacks of opportunity can a creature with Combat Reflexes make on one individual character in a round?

If the creature (w/ Combat Reflexes) has someone move from a threatened square to another threatened square, and then cast a spell, do you get to make two AoO's?

What if a character is trying to grapple the creature with Combat Reflexes multiple times? Does the creature get multiple AoO's against the grappler, for each of his attempts?

I know that you don't get multiple AoO's for multiple movement violations, but what about these other circustances?

As many Attacks of Opportunity as that creature provokes up to the Combat Reflexer's Dexterity Bonus +1.

Yes.

Actually, you can get multiple AoOs for multiple movement violations... You just can't get multiple AoO for moving out of a square you threaten.

If for example, you have 15' reach and the Hold the Line feat (AoO against a foe that charges you). You get one AoO for moving out of one or more spaces your threaten and one for charging you, for a total of 2 AoOs. If, in addition, you had a readied action in case he charged you, you could get an additional attack before his charge resolves.

Kinda makes you wary to charge someone, doesn't it? :heh:

From SRD
Combat Reflexes and Additional Attacks of Opportunity: If you have the Combat Reflexes feat you can add your Dexterity modifier to the number of attacks of opportunity you can make in a round. This feat does not let you make more than one attack for a given opportunity, but if the same opponent provokes two attacks of opportunity from you, you could make two separate attacks of opportunity (since each one represents a different opportunity). Moving out of more than one square threatened by the same opponent in the same round doesn’t count as more than one opportunity for that opponent. All these attacks are at your full normal attack bonus

EDIT: Cabral beat me to it. Well, here is the SRD on the subject for what its worth.

But you only get 1 AoO against a foe for movement out of a threatened square in a round. The Hold the Line feat gives you an AoO against a charging foe. If that foe was mereely moving to engage and you had a reach weapon you would still only get a single AoO for movement out of the first threatened square.

Right. one for moving out of one or more threatened space. (one regardless of how many threatened spaces the opponent leaves) And, one more for the hold the line feat. For a total of 2.

So Movement does allow extra attacks but only if they are moving from more than one threatened square...

Let's see if I've got this, if a creature 1 moves from two threatened spaces in creature 2's threatened range and 2 has enough attacks of opportunity, then B can make two attacks.

Wow, I thought that Movement could only produce 1 AoO, not 1 for each space moved through!

No. That's the specific exception. Cabral is talking about a different type of AoO than moving out of a threatened square. Moving out of a threatened square more than once only provokes one AoO from that opponent. For example, if I move up to an ogre, I provoke an AoO for moving within his 10ft reach. If, during the same round, I got bull rushed out of the way, I would not provoke a second AoO from the ogre.

What if you move past an ogre with combat reflexes? There are 4 space you move from that he threatens, does he get one attack per space, of if you move through all 4, he can only make one attack?

Moving out of multiple threatened squares provokes one attack of opportunity.
You leave 1 square threatened by the ogre, you provoke 1 attack of opporunity.
You leave 2 squares threatened by the ogre, you provoke 1 attack of opporunity.
You leave 3 squares threatened by the ogre, you provoke 1 attack of opporunity.
You leave 4 squares threatened by the ogre, you provoke 1 attack of opporunity.

I only mentioned Hold the line, because generalizing the statement to "Movement provokes only one attack of opportunity" is not correct. "Moving out of multiple threatened squares provokes only one opportunity."

:D I hope that clears things up.
