Your best fight scene in-game?

Then, out of nowhere (cue Ride of the Valkyries), comes the Paladin's mount. Striking swiftly and savagely with 2 hooves and a bite, the mount proceeds to mow through the orcs. Finally, at the end of the battle, the rogue says, "Can I take a level in war horse?"

Whomever is playing that rogue sounds like a brilliant man and is probably devilishly handsome as well.

I would say that the most memorable combat was a fight between the PCs and a pack of vampires who had stolen quite a bit from the protagonist....but I'll leave that bit hiddin in my story hour. The battle in question has yet to be written, and won't be for quite a while. But you can enjoy the rest of my story hour while waiting for it.:)

Stop having delusions of grandeur, we know that's you.:D

But not too bright though...Didn't want to take any ranks in certain rogue skills...Out of ignorance or spite...You decide...

We've had a couple of cool fight scenes in our games, one which happened last night. Here's one of the better ones -

The PC's in this fight are the following:
Nikolai - 11th Level Dwarven Rogue (owns a merchant shipping company)
Ciddo Jone - 10th Level Gnomish Druid
Aballister - 12th Level Sun Elf Wizard (has horribly high Intelligence, damn Sun Elves)
Luerick - 2nd Level Human Cleric/7th Level Barbarian (the premier hack-n-slasher of the group)

The PC's are wandering through this abandoned Wizard's Tower that is full of demons, golems, and undead and are searching for an old book that contains all sorts of snazzy stuff.
Well, the PC's are only on the second floor of the Tower and are searching through an old Wizard's bedroom. Unbeknownst to them, a Kelubar Demodand is lurking Invisible in the room. The poor critter was summoned up ages ago and locked in a magical diagram. However, when the Tower was ruined, the Demodand was released from the diagram but found that he couldn't get out of the tower and has been wandering its halls for eons. It was pretty mad and hungry.
So, combat began when the Demodand appeared behind Aballister and struck him in the back for nasty sneak attack damage. Everyone rolled Initiative and the Kelubar got to go first. So, he full attacked, hit all 3 times, each with Sneak Attack and staggered the Wizard. Nikolai the Rogue was subdued by the creature's stench and began to flee from the fight. Ciddo moved to Cure Aballister and Luerick moved in to attack and was subsequently unable to get past its huge AC.
The Kelubar turned Invisible again and on the following round Full Attacked a Flat-Footed Luerick with multiple Sneak Attack goodness. Aballister unleashed a Sonic Cone of Cold which hit the creature full force. Ciddo's Flame Strike didn't get past its SR and Luerick backed off to heal. Nikolai fled further from the creature, eventually getting out of it's stench radius and began to dry heave in a corner somewhere.
The Kelubar threw an Acid Arrow at Aballister, but missed horribly. Aballister responded with a Sonic Lightning Bolt which it easily evaded. Ciddo cast a Kiss of Death spell and moved in to attack. Luerick moved in to attack, but the Kelubar's DR soaked up the damage.
The Kelubar fled from the room and moved into a spot directly outside the doorway where he could surprise his attackers. Ciddo moved through, failed his spot check, and was Sneak Attacked by the Kelubar. He used his Kiss of Death but the Kelubar made its save. Luerick healed himself and Aballister moved out, hitting the creature with a Magic Missile. Nikolai retched.
The Kelubar, pissed off that they hadn't fallen yet, dropped an Acid Fog in the hallway and moved around the corner and out of sight. Ciddo followed and after locating the Demodand, erected a Wall of Fire around it. Aballister followed and dropped a Sonic Fireball which it also evaded. Luerick moved into the hallway and began to feel the effects of Acid Fog.
The Kelubar waltzed through the Wall of Fire threw another Acid Arrow at Aballister, which connected. Aballister tried to dispel the Acid Fog, but failed. Ciddo tried to Kiss of Death it again, but it made its save. Luerick flew into a Rage and went to attack, still barely missing it. Nikolai dry heaved.
The Kelubar began to use its Spring Attack against Luerick, whittling down his hit points. Aballister was low on hit points, both from the Acid Fog and the Acid Arrow and imbibed a Healing potion. Ciddo attempted another Kiss but another save was made.
The Kelubar continued to whittle down Luerick's HP, utitlizing Spring Attack and the Acid Fog. Aballister healed himself again and Ciddo dropped a Flame Strike which the Kelubar failed against. Luerick got a hit in, but it's DR soaked up most of it.
The Kelubar threw another Acid Arrow at Aballister, which missed and melted a hole in the wall behind him. Aballister, low on HP and sick of fighting this thing, unleashed a Sonic Chain Lightning which the creature fully succumbed to and was partially liquified by it. The heroes rejoiced, after the Acid Fog was dispelled. ;)

Its not a job, its an adventure...

I would have to say one of the most memorable fights occurred when i was dming my players.

2 PC
(gnome sorcerer/harper scout and elf fighter/rouge/duelist)

They are a special team of guards for Waterdeep (equivalent of a swat team; we call the group SORT from the tv show OZ; the premise is they deal with threats to the city that are too much for the regular guards to handle.. The initiation was hillarious, but that is another story...).

They had to seek out an escaped prisoner who tried to assassinate one of the masked lords of Waterdeep. They pursued him for four days across the sword coast and finally came upon a gigantic sentient for lack of better term "Ghost ship" from the nine hells. Apparently the Assassin was working for a powerful devil. They boarded the ship (after the "ghost ship" ran over their own ship, killing almost the entire crew). The ship radiated an anti magic field so they were unable to use spells to escape, or call for help. They spent two days on the ship, (which was a mix between Amitiville horror and texas chainsaw massacre) dealing with horrible things, trying to keep the surviving crew members alive, not to mention themselves and all while trying to find the assassin hiding somewhere on the ship, who began toying with them by picking off the crew one by one, and actually turning one of the crew against the pcs unknowingly, who almost lead them into certain death. Finally, after a few days and the beginnings stages of starvation. (yes, the ship had a galley, no you dont want to know what happened to one of the sailors who tried to drink from their stored water barrels). They came upon a ship. Everyone thought they were saved, but the ship recognized the death ship for what it was and were desperately trying to escape while the pcs dove off the death ship and tried to board the merchant vessell while being beaten off the side by screaming men yelling to get off! you will curse us all!!!!! So the death ship eventually over takes the merchant vessell while the pcs are trying to fight to stay on the ship that is being destroyed now due to the fact their crew stopped trying to get away to get the PCs off out of fear the death ship was really coming after the PCs. The Death Ship runs over the merchant vessell.

At this point the PCs (or i should say players lol) were visablly distraught, whinning, yelling (picture the guy from Aliens GAME OVER MAN! GAME OVER!!!!!! WTF are we gonna do now!!!?)

The merchant vessel was destroyed. So, they had to get back on the ghost ship, as the alternative was eventually drowning......... then began fighting the other members of the surviving crew after a paranoid, desperate finger pointing screaming match escalated into a full blown brawl. The assassin laughing the entire time while he watched from a hidden place above the ship, btw.

I felt sorry for them, so gave them a one in twenty chance at salvation and rolled a twenty. Their fellow "SORT" team members who had been looking for them for the past few days, when they discovered they were unable to reach them via magic, flew out in the equivalent of a gnomish zeppelin, carried them off the ship but not before one of the pcs (the gnome) was turned to stone, by the angry death ship for trying to escape, and the later (the elf) trying to get him on board the zeppelin. Picture an elf screaming like a woman holding a stone gnome under one arm and a rope in the other while being flown off the deck of a ship by a gnome zeppelin HA HA HA.

But they got back home to Waterdeep. I did let them know they were the first to escape the "ghost ship", so its out there looking for them.
Suffice to say, they refuse to step one foot on a ship : ) LOL.
