Your D&D edition is not a football team

"The Jocks"?

Jesus Christ.

I guess I probably shouldn't tell you about John, the Tolkien-reading, D&D playing, STAR TREK watching linebacker I knew in high school...!

It'd better not be a football team.

I'd hate to bring the new 5e books home, then suddenly find they'd morphed into a pack of hefty dudes making heaps of noise and generally trashing the place.

Which probably won't happen. But just in case, I'll remember not to feed them after midnight.

Not voicing your opinion does no good. That is true. It does not follow that voicing your opinion is guaranteed to do good. How you voice your opinion matters. Abusing other players in the name of your opinion not only does no good, it does active harm. There is a pretty solid argument that much of the fracturing of the market should be blamed upon *us*, not on game design, or WotC marketing practices.

With the power to speak your mind, comes the responsibility to do so in a controlled and constructive manner. We can be passionate without acting like jerks, and should strive to do so.

Must spread XP around and all that... so simply quoting a "hear hear!"

peace,

Kannik

Yes, blame us for being human and liking the things we like. Blame us for being passionate.

Blame us for being satisfied with our local gaming groups. Blame us for lurking on insular sub-forums. Blame us for being interested in some conversations about gaming, but not others.

Blame us for not caring whether Wizards of the Coast succeeds or fails. Worse, blame us for growing lukewarm to WotC when they make a game that we don't like. Blame us for not giving them blind faith. Blame us for becoming interested in Paizo if they're doing something cooler.

Echoing the sentiment.

Respect to the Lions- they may well be a dangerous team for a few years.

(Meanwhile, I'll be rooting for my Saints, FC Dallas, San Antonio Spurs, Texas Rangers, and both the Dallas Stars and the New Jersey Devils.)

What no love for the Cowboys or Texans? (just noticied a lot of Texas support there except for the NFL -- kinda curious)

I was an army brat, so where I found a sport has something to do with who I root for.

I root for the Saints 'cause that's my hometown. (I root against the Cowboys since so many of my friends my whole life have been Cowboys fans who crow about their "America's Team" moniker...)

I root for the Spurs because I (re)discovered basketball in San Antonio when I was in college, during the dawn of the David Robinson era. And they played D- I like D.

I root for the Texas Rangers because I discovered baseball in 1982, when our family moved to D/FW.

I root for FC Dallas because they are the local MLS team.

I root for the Stars because they are the local NHL team.

I root for the NJ Devils because they used to be the Colorado Rockies, who introduced me to hockey when I lived in Denver. When we moved to Kansas, we got no NHL games, so I didn't find that out for many years- I thought they were just defunct- and the Avalanche were not in existence. So I rediscovered hockey when Dallas got the Stars, then uncovered the history of the Devils.

The Bears won their only Super Bowl when 1E ruled the land, so my rooting interests match up perfectly.

Thank goodness it isn't baseball. When my beloved Cubbies last won the World Series, Camelot was still standing. :.-(

I tend to think of it more as cooks fighting over what to add to the 5E cake from the various edition pots.
