Your favorite 3.x published campaign setting?

Whoa, that's great news! I had no idea Oathbound was making a comeback, but it's awesome that it is! :D

Sweet indeed!!!!!!!

Hopefully, Darrin, you'll be able to get to the other domains after Eclipse that were never covered (Anvil, the Vault, and the Kiln). I'm especially looking forward to Eclipse and hope the Vault is next.

Will these be physical books or pdf? (If pdf, hopefully there will be a POD option.)

I'm quite fond of the Scarred Lands setting, especially the Hollowfaust book. It's probably my favorite setting book in all of 3e.

That will, of course, depend entirely upon sales.

Unfortunately I don't have all the details just yet. Stay tuned....

Depends upon how "vanilla" you want to go. If you want something more vanilla (traditional D&D), go with the Forgotten Realms or Golarion; I'd veer towards Golarion because it is a "living" setting that is actively supported with new products, whereas the 3E Forgotten Realms (pre-Spellplague) is "finished," so to speak. Of course there is plenty of material to last a lifetime, but it is nice having the sense of being part of something ongoing and alive.

If you want something less traditional and more atmospheric, I'll cast another vote for Scarred Lands--a great setting.

There are plenty of others worth checking out, as proven by this thread. But if money is a concern, scour Ebay and look at what old setting books are priced. A lot of stuff can be had cheap on Ebay (e.g. I got three Oathbound books for something like $12 including shipping, and there are lots of cheap copies of the main Scarred Lands book, Ghelspad, out there) but other settings are rather expensive, like the Iron Kingdoms or the Wilderlands of High Fantasy.

Let us know what you decide to go with!

Hi All, thanks for all the great suggestions. My short list is now:

1. City State of the Invincible Overlord with the Wilderlands of High Fantasy.
2. Conan OGL.
3. Oathbound.

I plan on using bits from FRCS, Freeport (maybe drop the entire city in) and the others suggested (have a really extensive RPG collection on hand inlcuding most of what came up here) and maybe Ptolus as a destination eventually.

Again, thanks for all the great suggestions.

Rich

I only have the (1e) OGL Conan core book, not sure what Road of Kings is like, but certainly it's a fun setting for low-fantasy play.

You can get the Wilderlands books as e-downloads from eg RPGnow. One great thing about Wilderlands is the immense amount of material available free online, both 3e and old 0e-1e stuff. Lots of it on the Necromancer Games site, also judgesguild.net and elsewhere. Goodman Games put out three nice 3e conversions of classic JG modules; Dark Tower was probably the best received.

In order...

1) Golarion (hands down). Currently my group's default setting.
2) Aereth - Id be equally comfortable with this setting. I love the old school appeal.
3) Greyhawk - using the Living Greyhawk Gazetteer as a core book.
