Your Favorite 5th Level Acane Spell???

Re: Ghostform's Biggest Drawback?

A good limitation on ghostform would be to rule that the caster can't touch material components while incorporeal.

Well, my wiz had Eschew Materials, but all that aside I think this is a bad idea generally both for the extra bookkeeping involved and the fact that the Wizards possessions go ethereal with him and therefore are on the same plane as the Wizard and are therefore 'solid' to him.

Well, Magic Jar is one of the most important keys to my death aversion formula, and its the only one of the spells in the formula thats 5th level so ill have to go with it.

1st:Chain Contingency w/ Magic Jar, Gem Teleportation( takes effect when your reduced to 0 or less Hp)
Elswhere: Clone under Temporal Stasis w/ the other gem within 5 feet of the clone
Then: Contingency w/ Dispel Magic(takes effect when your soul enters the clone)

So what happens is: When your reduced to 0 or less Hp your soul is transfered into the "Magic Jar" which "Teleports" you to a gem within five feet of your "Clone" and since the clone is an exact copy of your "original body" your soul can permenaltly remain in the "clone". Then the "Dispeling" takes effect so that you come out of "Stasis".

HAVE FUN IN YOUR BRAND NEW BODY!!!

EDITOR'S NOTE: I changed the Magic Jar/ Gem Teleportation Contingency to to "Chain Contingency" because of a problem pointed out by others, thanks, i was probly thinking about "Chain Contingency" the whole time then just put in plain ol' "Contingency".

Thanks for the pointer

I thought you could only have one Contigency active at a time.

Yep, only one contingency. Says so right there in the spell description. Then again, there's always Chain Contingency from Tome and Blood. Of course, its 9th level.

Nightmare. From a DM point of view you can drive parties crazy with this. It's not a game breaker, but it's a good spell of substance.:D

Feeblemind

I'm one of the fans of Feeblemind. Used on strong fighter-types, it can be quite useful in stopping them from using any tactics. Then there are the obvious uses in disabling opponent spell-casters.

Mind fog is also kinda neat as a gateway to lower level spells with a will save (ex: charm person, hold person, Tasha's Laughter, etc); arguably, you could just use heighten spell if you only want to try one low-level spell... It's also capable of disabling clerical casters, if you can get them to fail the will save somehow.

I'm shocked that no one has said Wall of Force! I love that spell - My wizard had used it to keep masses of sitrges away, trip T-Rex's, block very nasty enemies in the corner while the party run away, block the entrance to the room with the basilisk so it can't get out, etc... Probably one of the most versitile spells in the book.
