Your favorite class and race and other things.

I prefer humans and preparation based casters. Humans are my default race; they can work for any class and the extra feat and skill points are a great boost to flexibility. Casting is fun. Preparation casters can pick up new toys more easily than spontaneous casters, and you can try out new tricks each time.

In theory, I'd reccomend something like a Barbarian for a new player. It avoids feat overload, and you can precalculate the rage bonuses. However, it's not really a problem if they want something more complex. Our newest player started playing DnD with a 15th level Shifter!

Favored fighting styles: Spells; mace and board, single one handed weapon, and unarmed.
