Your favorite drink / snack?

Hey, I've never had a bladder infection. :p
Yeah, I like cranberry juice, alot. I go through about a gallon of it a week. I also go through about a gallon of orange juice a week as well.

My wife likes cranberry juice, but I can't stomach the stuff. She also like loganberry (she's form Buffalo) and orange juice, while I tend toward the apple or tomato juice.

Alas, she isn't a gamer, though.

The only time I've ever heard of anyone voluntarily drinking cranberry juice was when they had a bladder infection.

Now that's hardly voluntary, is it :)

Vanilla Coke or water are the (cold) beverages of choice for me. Coffee and hot tea are some other favorites. Sandwiches are good, but only on non-crumbly bread, as that'd screw up the table and books. Sticky snacks are also a bad idea, for obvious reasons. I like...well, actually, I'm not a huge fan of snack foods, but Doritos or Chedder & Sour Cream ruffles are good.

For drinks I'm along the lines of Stewart's Peach Soda or Root Beer, Peach Snapple, or Jones' D'Peach Mode. (I tend to like Peach-flavored drinks.)

For food I'm like Chex Mix, Trail Mix, dried fruit, or jellybeans.

Sounds like a neat place. Where is it going to be located?

As some of you might know I'm starting my own gaming / book / movie store with a nice little lounge area to hang out in and refreshments and I've got a handle on all the books, and the movies, and whatnot. After all, I can just talk to my distributors and use them to figure out what’s selling well. But I have no idea what gamers, in general, favorite stuff to snack on is.

I'm going to have chips, and a soda fountain, pocky for the anime crowd, and probably some candy. Even pizza, yum. Not that I will be making it myself, but I have a deal going with this wonderful pizza place up the street and a pizza warmer all lined up to keep it hot and fresh and whatnot.

What I was wondering was this... What do you all like to drink / snack on while you are gaming? I figure if I ask around enough I will know exactly what to stock in my store, after all, its not about what I like. Its about what people will enjoy, and what will sell, neh?

Well, I used to tend towards pizza and a place that delivered burgers, but started having stomach problems and gaining weight. So, I started actually working out and eating healthier at gaming sessions. I usually drink LOTS of water during sessions (as DM, my throat gets dry) and occasionally down my favorite soft drink, Red Rock cola (if you have never tried it, once you do, you will never want a high fructose corn syrup-based cola again... it is pure cane sugar, not the syrup). I like crackers and cheese, pretzels, a veggie tray, etc. Also, having make your own soft tacos is good for my sessions, as are soup, casseroles, chili, etc.

Well, I have to cut out the pizza and the Mountain Dew during gaming due to health reasons. Now I've been eating fruits and veggies while drinking either water or juice.

Y'know, as a GM, I'd probably get pretty annoyed with someone who worked out during the gaming session. I mean, if you're going to game with me, at least do me the courtesy of PAYING ATTENTION!

:p

And now for a couple pennies from me.

About 3 months ago, I started drinking lemon juice. Morning and evening, the juice of half a just-then squeezed lemon. 7 lemons a week. Poor as I am right now, I've sometimes missed it, but I can usually scrounge up the money for a weeks supply.

Anyway, that has snowballed. I no longer drink soda (or anything with that sort of icky sweetness), and I'm enjoying candy less and less. I eat pizza because its cheap and we have a pretty good local place, and I dig the style.

What do I still eat that you could reasonably have at a store? Oreos. with milk, of course.

If you had some sort of fruit juice, that'd apeal to the non-soda crowd. We're a minority, but hey, a couple of juices isn't a huge amount of shelf space.

In addition to which I will add that I see him snacking on the occasional butterfinger, penute butter cup, and kit kat. Add to your list an assortment of chocolates, which I have always considered necissary for any game. Also note that when he DM's he encourages one of our players to bring queso (or for those back east a kind of nacho...) Yummy :) He awards this player often with extra XPs !

For our gaming sessions, I make a lunch/dinner type dish to cut down on the junk food. I have made everything from soup to sandwhiches to casseroles. I also bring a dessert to satisify everyone's sweet tooth. :D I think the favorites are freshly made cookies and brownies. I find it very important to keep gamers well-fed or they can get cranky! ;)

It would probably be fairly cheap for you, and profitable, to keep on hand several kinds of teabags and instant coffee. (Note: I do not drink coffee so I don't know if instant is awful or not.) All they need is a cup and hot water.

If you want to take a chance on foods that need to be sold within a few days you could try pre-made wrapped subs or sandwiches. Bagels usually go down well too. And if you're keeping any kind of freezer, ice cream bars/sandwiches, etc. (Although ice cream can make a mess in your store!)
