Your favorite "jump scenes"

Well, this isn't from a horror film, but...

I was six when The Empire Strikes Back came out. It was the second film I had seen in my life and I was terrified of Darth Vader.

The scene that got me was after Vader used the force and Luke went flying out of the window. Having caught onto the railing and getting back inside, Luke is stealthily walking down a hallway looking for Vader and doesn't see him. He hears the gasping breath in time to dodge Vader's lightsabre. I jumped so high and squealed so loud that my dad lauged at me... along with other people.

Inconsiderate jerks... : :p

From the Sixth Sense when the boy ghost with the gun shot head wound first walks across in the background AND again when he turns around and we finally get to see the wound. Same character got me twice!

I literally never jump at movie scenes, which is why the last time is something I remember. The scene was in "Independence Day", right after the captured alien has just jumped up and killed the scientists working on it. A number of people enter the room outside the operation theatre, which is now filled with smoke, and Bill Pullman steps up near the glass and tries to make out what is going on inside. And then the lead scientist's body hits the glass on the other side. Definitely gave me a start.

I get really immersed in movies so I jump really easily- but one of the biggest jolts to the system ever was in Butterfly Effect when I saw it last night (spoiler tags as it's a new movie and I don't want to give ANYTHING away)

When he goes back to the time when he fails to save his dog from the evil punk kid, and talks him out of it.... then Lenny stabs the kid in the back!

That movie is so good! Don't understand all the bad reviews behind it. It's like Donnie Darko's twisted & evil cousin :).
Edit- Ummm changed spoiler text to white as couldn't get spoiler tags to work!
edit2- spoiler tags working :)

Here's a rather odd one - the scene in Spider-Man when Norman Osborne is in his home and talking to himself and his Green Goblin personality. The laughter of the Goblin loudly erupted in intense surround sound in the theater, and that made me jump. Although I blame it more on the theater's sound system than the actual scene. ;)

Oh man, I just remembered the funniest story I've heard about a scene like these, and it happened to my sister when she worked at a movie theater back in '97.

The Lost World had just hit theaters, and she went into an auditorium during one of the showings to make a routine sound and temperature check. She hadn't actually seen the movie yet, but it was during the scene when Julianne Moore and Jeff Goldblum's adopted daughter are trying to get away from the velociraptors.

Right in the middle of the aisle of a packed house she looked up at the screen when Goldblum's daughter is about to crawl beneath the wall to get outside when the Raptor abrubtly shoved his head under the wall from outside to get her. She said it startled her so much her whole body recoiled causing her to bolt from the auditorium, utterly mortified someone in the audience had noticed. Ah man I laughed so hard when she told me that it hurt....

Minority Report...when the pre-cog "shudders" suddenly in the water...it was so peaceful and quiet there for a second.
The only time I can think of that I may have actually jumped recently (I'm pretty reserved in the theater) was in this film as well. When Agatha screams, "Ruuuuuuuuun!" it was really loud and startled me. I don't think I jumped but my eyes certainly popped open. :)

I know many folks including a ton of my friends that jumped at the raptor leap scene in JP1. :)

Signs, when Joaquin Phoenix is watching the news on an alien sighting during a birthday party in Brazil!

Sixth Sense, when Haley Osment walks up to a lady he thinks is his mom, and it isn't!
Almost the entire theater I was at, including some rather large and manly men jumped WAY in the air for that scene. :) One guy even let out a panicked and squeaky, "damn."

The Ring, toward the end, when Samarra
crawls out of the TV and does that superspeed step right before she kills Noah.
The whole theater screamed, and my friend yanked on my shirt so hard she almost decapitated me.
