Your favourite novel series

Also, I was wondering if anyone could help me remember the name of another series. Female heroine given powers, from a small village... very dark setting, huge conflict going on between good & evil, where both sides had numerically numbered heroes, one chapter details how in a battle the 4th, 7th & 8th evil champions were annihilated along with their troops when the 3rd of good destroyed himself (and his troops...) because they were losing the battle.) First book was released about 10 years ago. Can't remember any more details than that except for about two years I kept looking for the next book & failed to find it .

I'm pretty sure you mean the earlier referenced "The Deed of Paksenarrion".

for me, it's the Harry Potter series (not counting no:5) the only series of books i've read more then six times over......

though i've read LOTR 4 times.....

then i'd say Bernard Cornwall's The Warlord Cronicles (sp?), a great post roman version of Arthur....

I think they might have rereleased this series or I might be thinking of a SFBC Omnibus edition. There's also a "prequel" story containing 2 books about the Saint mentioned alot in the books about Paks (I think his name was Gird).

I wouldn't class "The Deed of Paksenarrion" as very dark; it's certainly not Martin, Cook, or Erikson levels of grim-n-gritty, anyway. And there certainly weren't any numbered characters in that one (or rather, the three books in the omnibus).
