Your favourite traps

Wow, that's an awesome trap. I can't decide my favorite between this one or the "mental torture" traps(the crushing wall that only two characters can escape, the teleport trap with the crystal ball).

My favorite is the first trap the group would come to in a complex. To enter the complex they have to either fly or struggle to climb a cliff face (the height depends on the party level.) Once they enter, just a few meters from the entrance is a pit trap that leads to a greased slide that exits the side of the cliff... far enough above the ground to do some serious damage.

I like the Sovereign glue idea..

As written the glue must set within one round or become useless. However, duplicating the effect seems to make for some rather intresting traps.

However, it would have to be a trap for higher level players. Having a player get his hand stuck to part of a trap would likely be the end of a low level character.

Wow Radferth ...... I am impressed - that is an excellent idea .... I can't believe that I've never thought of that one myself and cannot wait to try it on my players.

To celebrate the impending release of The Wurst of Grimtooth's Traps, so what's your favourite/least favourite trap?

There was one from one of the old Grimtooths that tickles me in the right spot even to this day. It's your typical pit, with the typical nasty stuff at the bottom. But it's not a wide pit... you could jump over it.

The catch: [sblock]There is an invisible wall suspended over the pit. You jump over it and WHAM! Run into the wall and fall into the pit.[/sblock]

If you're just feeling sadistic, a pit with a gelatinous cube filling the bottom.

One I used to good effect was a descending, smooth corridor that was oiled (think water slide). The bottom third of the ramp and end room had small blades protruding from the floor. As characters would slip, fall, and slide down they'd get covered in oil and run over the blades. Then the goblins tossed in the torches. I called it my burning cheese grater of death.
