What was the first RPG/RPG tangent purchase you ever made? Preferably in pictures.

It was a store in Ketchikan Alaska. The store didn't sell many blister packs or boxed sets. They opened all the boxes and sold the minis individually in a jeweler's glass display case. The mini above (barbarian), I paid $.79 for. Only later did I figure out it came out of the following blister pack:

I recall the local Walmart precursor called The Fair had a shelf with mostly books and modules where we bought some things with money from the paper route. We would go to the city once a month or so with my father and go to the specialty book store (Fabulous Fiction) to get minis and dice and such. I recall my father letting us kids pick something out, but I think one of my first purchases was the Under Illefarn adventure.

I have this box still on my shelf and even some of the figures. I'm guessing I received it for Christmas though. Not my actual box or figures.

Cool! I still have the aforementioned mini. Although, with the shift in scale minis have done, he looks less like an imposing barbarian and more like angry child…🤷🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, 1e, softcover

My mother at the time was very much fallen into the "Satanic Panic" hysteria, so she refused to allow me to get into D&D.

My friends and I were playing Warhammer at the time, and found out about this. I insisted to her that it wasn't D&D at all. Somehow I got permission to spend my saved-up allowance and birthday cash on it (thanks Grandma!).

I had a bit of a panic attack though, when I first read the Daemonology and Necromancy spell descriptions. Couldn't leave this book out for her perusal, that's for sure.
