Your FR Campaigns

So what's everyone doing with the FR setting latley?

My own has been on hold due to the Ennies, Gen Con, and my general inability to organize myself lately.

Last I left out the players were about 8th-10th level in the Unapproachable East, on a boat out of Rashamen and moving into Thay to handle a horde of monsters that the Thayians had unleased upon the lake.

My lvl 7 group is in Cormyr, trying to help the Purple Dragons deal with a group of priests of Cyric who are trying to further destabilize the kingdom. To do that, they need to find them. They are trying to get the help of a priest of Bane, who should be able to tell them of the whereabouts of the priests of Cyric. However, the priest of Bane is himself hidden away. To find him, they have had to deal with the only one of his contacts who they have learned about, the master of a thieve's guild in Arabel, who is in fact a wererat and whose son they killed (he did not know it when they first met him, but knows it now - that will be fun when they return to him). The guildmaster has accepted to give him the information in exchange for something he cannot buy: the trophy of the Adventurers' Challenge that takes place every year in Marsember (Dungeon 91: Challenge of Champions IV). Problem is: they didn't win the challenge. They have asked the Purple Dragons to demand a copy of the trophy from the Adventurers' Guild. They have accepted, in exchange for another mission for the Purple Dragons, which they are now doing while the new trophy is being forged. They are now in the Stonelands, playing The Door from Everywhere from Dungeon 88. Once they are done with this, they will get the trophy, head back to Arabel, give the trophy to the guildmaster, fight the guildmaster and his men, go to the Farsea Marshes to find the priest of Bane, defeat his protectors (a hydra and a young black dragon, in fact the offspring of Manshoon's mount, but the players don't know that the priest of Bane is part of the Zhentarim, but still loyal to Manshoon), deal with him (it should be bloodless). To help them, he will require that they go get to a serpent people temple, to defeat the lizardmen that have recently uncovered it, and get the weapon with which a hero of the serpent people has been buried (an dungeon adventure from the Serpent Kingdoms book). Once they're done, I will need to decide exactly what the cult of Cyric looks like, where they are situated (I already have an idea, but I prefer to wait and see where things take me), and who is really the threat to the kingdom, since the cult of Cyric is only a cover. They probably won't be able to deal with the threat for some time, though, because they are due to leave Cormyr for some time: they have been given a mission by the temple of Mystra (for resurrecting a member of the group) in Saerloon in Sembia, which is the temple where the Mystic Theurge of the group studied to become a priest (she started as a cleric, not as a wizard, but she had the wizard training before because her father and brother, who she thought until recently were dead), to go and deliver a package to Larloch. From there, they will go to Baldur's Gate on a mission both personal and for Cormyr (though they won't know these missions are linked): Cormyr has discovered an uncharted island, and the characters should become the nobles in charge of it, as a reward for their mission against the cult of Cyric; also, the father of the Mystic Theurge has been kidnapped by a sorcerer (in fact, the character's mother, but she does not know that), and her brother left her a message at the temple, where he came looking for her, that he was leaving for an island. That's as far as things are planned for now.

Wew, that's the first time I actually write this all down, damn it's long and complicated.

My 3rd level party is in the hills north of waterdeep, having just completed an assignment they got from the Waterdeep Guard (of which they are a part), after having been transfered from the watch (because the war near everska, and their to frequent use of lethal force). There's a "conflict" with Thay coming on, but not much has happened with that yet.

I'd say more but one of my players frequents ENW and will probably be in here to post about the FR game he was running, or the one he's going to start soon.

Funny thing, the 3rd-level party I'm DMing is also in the hills north of Waterdeep, seeking an abandoned dwarf outpost from the northern kingdom of.... whose name eludes me at the moment. So far they've only encountered only a lone orc who had his brains splattered by the party fighter's hammer.

More far-reaching turns of events are sure to follow, but best to keep quiet about them for now.

Cormyr and Waterdeep eh? Before the party wound up in the Unapproachable East, following some descendants of the Nar, they'd been up in the Moonsea reigion. I've run so much stuff with Waterdeep, the North, Cormyr and the Dalelands, that I really needed to do something not quite so common. It's worked out well so far.

I used good old Phlan. I don't read the adventurers or modules too much and ignore a lot of cannon so I've got my own set of NPC's trying to control the city while a thieves guild waits in the background. Worked out well.

If I can get myself back into GMing mode, I'll probably take them further south and perhaps east for the Old Empires bit. some good stuff there.

Two FR campaigns on the go.

One is centred on the Vilhon Reach and features ongoing conflicts with the party and the Red Wizards, the Yuan Ti of Hlondeth, and the Emerald Enclave.

The other is set in The Vast and features intrigues involving Mulmaster, Calaunt and Tantras; the Zhentarium and Red Wizards attempts to further their influence in the area and the mysterious inhabitants of Ironfang Keep.

Just opened the brass door to level one of the Tomb of Abysthor, which is in the vicinity of Everlund. This is against the direct orders of the Abbot of the keep of vigilance (an agent of orcus) and however the party is under the protection of the church of Kelemvor as rumors of undead (because of the party's investigations) in the valley of the shrines of Helm are spreading.

Aaron.

When last we left the Company of the Endless Bridge, they were stranded by a cave-in, thousands of feet below-ground, trapped in the middle of a major pitched battle between a clan of Derro who uncertainly took them in, and a contingent of Mind Flayers and their slaves who sought to wipe the Derro Community out, just as it had the Duergar before them.

Originally on a trade mission with the Duergar far below the EarthSpur Mountains, their lives have turned now into a flight for survival, as they seek to escape the current debacle, stealthily sneak their way through the heart of Illithid territory, and find their way to a means of egress from the Underdark, and freedom...

...and they pray they do not fail.

My 3rd level group is in Damara currently. I started the campaign in DR 1360, so a lot of the current canon stuff hasn't happened yet, in fact the Tuigan invasion is going on currently just a little to the south. I ran the Crucible of Freya set in the eastern part of Soravia; tied in nicely with all the leftover orcus-worshippers scattered after the witch-king's defeat.

Most recently, the group has been trying to liberate some of the small northern towns in Soravia still occupied by Zhengyi's forces.
