Your intangible gaming Xmas wishlist

Dear Santa,

For Xmas (now or subsequent), I would really like...

...to play in a fantasy campiagn that felt absolutely nothing like D&D. I've played fantasy using D&D, Rolemaster, Tunnels & Trolls, Tekumel, and Fantasy HERO so far. All of these games have basically felt like D&D. Even in my current, quite-fun FH game, HERO's incredibly flexible chargen system has produced: the cleric, the fighter, the rogue, the sorcerer, the paladin, and the Useless Chaotic Neutral guy. We raid dungeons and ruins for magical artifacts. (I did play in a great Burning Wheel event at GenCon that was not D&D-ish at all, but that was more of a LARP, and was an isolated instance.)

...to get my main D&D group to play something other than D&D, even if only occasionally. We were switching between a few d20 games when the boom hit, but that has basically ceased. Now, if it's not D&D, half the group won't show up.

Dear Santa,

I have been a very good boy this year. Please do not count the time I attempted to assassinate competing ENnie nominees with a semi-automatic pit bull launcher. That was just the caffine.

What I want for Christmas:

1) C'thulu True 20

2) More Iron Heroes

3) An influx of independently wealthy fantasy artists who all want to work for free

4) More time to game

5) Much more time to game

6) Please airlift out my gaming group and replace them with libidinous runway models

7) More tables that use the d12

Thank you,

Biggus Geekus

Dear Santa

I would like my players that are tactical minded to become a bit more rolplatying like and my players that are role players to become a bit more tactical so we can meet in the middle ground. I would like one player to realize that her reality of gaming is not anywhere close to reality and to quit making gaming difficult for a pair of our players. I would like some players to take a bit more active role in the game as players get more out of it the more they put in it. I would also like one game to just stop and not have to be the one to kill it like I've done so many times in the pass as it just doesn't work. I'd also like the patience and the forethought to run a better game myself as while my game is going well it is not up to my ultra high standards.

Love your first five, but I would continue with:

6 ) More time to prepare
7 ) Runway models who want to hang out after the game

Dear Santa,

Please bring me a semi-automatic pit bull launcher.

Dear Santa,

Please help Mark find and close on a new house for his family so he can come back to our gaming group.

Oh yeah, and an Antipathy spell centered on my painting desk so my daughters would quit playing with my "monster guys" while I'm at work would be nice, too.

Thanks,
CR

Dear Santa,

I would like to craft a campaign that engages my players fully in both their "role" and "roll" playing modes. A campaign where my work on the background setting, the NPC personalities, the over-arcing plot line, and the details of the world is as important to them as it is to me.

And if you can manage to find me a copy of B3: Palace of the Silver Princess (first printing), that'd be cool too!

Dear Santa:

I'd like somebody other than me in my player group to be into Sword and Sorcery (rather than Big Fat Fantasy), and to run a really good Conan game.

Somebody running a really good Star Wars or Wing Commander game would rule, too. Thanks!
