It' all about priorities, my wife doesn't dislike roleplay, she just doesn't care. Luckily for me though, she has a hobby that comsumes even more time then my 2 nights a week of gaming. She has her own horse and does competition with it.
This frees up a lot of time for me to game and stuff. But I have to say, if I had kids (in the future), I would dedicate a lot of time to them, even if this would interfere with my roleplay schedule. I would do my utmost best to brainwash them into the ultimate roleplayer in the end.
But not to digress from the main theme: Gary Gygax and his wife: this is no surprise to me. People outside of the game see it as an infantile hoby, and nothing except an open mind can change this for most of them.
I've tried hitting them on the head with my player's handbook, but even that won't help. At least many people seem to accept it more readily then in the old days.
