While I think that most gaming sessions are homebrew, there's quite a bit of published adventures with critical acclaim. But there's only so much time in our lives to dedicate to playing them all, so inevitably some fall by the wayside.
I'm interested in hearing from EN World what are their top adventures they're keen on running or playing. I have a few of my own, keeping it short for my "top ten." I already ran Curse of Strahd, because otherwise I'd include it.
1. (Basic D&D) Keep On the Borderlands: One of the most iconic adventures in D&D's history, yet one I never got the opportunity to experience. Would love to cross it off my bucket list. Would run, already know the spoilers.
2. (D&D 5e) Dungeons of Drakkenheim: Dark fantasy sandbox set in a ruined city afflicted with eldritch horrors. Would run, already know the spoilers.
3. (Pathfinder) Kingmaker: Pathfinder's most popular adventure path, where the PCs colonize a stretch of wilderness to found their own kingdom. Would run, played in it before and know quite a bit of spoilers.
4. (D&D 5e) Adventurer’s Guide to the Bible: An innovative sandbox adventure set in the 1st Century Middle East, where the PCs have to find the Messiah and thwart the ambitions of demons. Would run, already know the spoilers.
5. (D&D/Pathfinder) Zeitgeist, the Gears of Revolution: Fantasy Victorian-style settings are a niche interest of mine. Heard many great things but never got around to reading the adventures beyond the general setting. Would run or play in.
6. (Dungeon Crawl Classics) Sailors on the Starless Sea: DCC is one of the systems I most want to try someday, and where better to start than the adventure that started it all? Would run.
7. (OSR) Waking of Willowby Hall: Another adventure that gets high praise, has a very neat concept and dynamic dungeon. Would run or play in.
8. (Call of Cthulhu) Masks of Nyarlathotep: Even non-CoC players have heard its praises. A full length globe-trotting campaign connecting an international series of clues to a greater conspiracy. Would either run or play, more likely play.
9. (Call of Cthulhu) Horror on the Orient Express: Call of Cthulhu's other big adventure. Would play in, looks like a lot to run for a system I'm not as familiar with.
10. (13th Age) Eyes of the Stone Thief: A dynamic megadungeon that is a mobile living super-entity the PCs can run across over the course of a campaign, like a recurring villain. Would run.
