YouTubing "Savage Tide"

Ok, I'm not quite sure what I was thinking, but I recorded part of my "Savage Tide" session last night, and I've now put it up onto YouTube.

It's an incomplete segment of the players talking with a dragon turtle (trying to persuade him to accept tribute to let the ships of Farshore past). For those wondering how it ended, Martin rolled a natural 20 for his Diplomacy check, which when added to the good roleplaying of the players gave an acceptable result. :)

Visible players in the clip are Bradford, Peggy and Martin. I'm the invisible (but heard) DM. Rich and Craig are present but silent - they come in for the action.

So, if you've wondered how my group roleplays down in Australia, or just wanted to hear what I sound like, here's your chance to find out! (I sound very odd to my ears. ;))

Cheers!

Excellent song selection with "Puff the Magic Dragon". That encounter is the next one I am running, was fun to see how your group handled it. I am thinking my group won't be nearly as fortunate in their dealings, given the "faceman" of the group won't be rejoining until post-superbowl.

This is an odd group. Bradford is normally the face-man of the team, but this time he's playing a Cha 10 character... and it's not working that well. Martin isn't bad, but he's playing a Wizard, so for those times when you actually need ranks in Diplomacy... eek!

Unfortunately, I couldn't even convince my players to start talking to him. They did long-term buffs (including Protection From Fire and Stoneskin) for defense, had a barbarian with greataxe who critted 3 times for nearly 90 damage each for offense, and a gluttonous dragon turtle who was unable to roll anything better than a 4. The barbarian almost died anyway (since the 4 was often good enough), but all in all it was a disappointingly easy CR 16 critter.

The 3 regular dragon turtles I put in its lair proved more effective for some reason...

I think your microphone needs replacing. All I could hear was

"mrrmlll mrrr mrrlllmmrrr mrlll cast a spell mrrr....mrrrll mrml...etc."

edit: I got to the part with the actual dragon turtle. This character, is he based on Jeremy Irons as Profion in the D&D movie? :)
