Yuan-Ti look like what?

Yuan-Ti

First Post
I hope this is a mistake but since we were discussing this in the Beholder thread about the non-inclusion of Yuan-Ti in the final SRD, I had to post this. In the online art gallery for Races of Faerun, this picture is labeled as Yuan-Ti:

Could this explain the absence? They are redefining the race to make it Faerun-specific?

That picture reminds me on those 50's and 60's "Thing From The Swamp" Horror B-Movies.

But back to the topic. I don't think they will redesign Yuan-Ti for the FR. Instead i guess Races of Faerun will content some new (strange?) halfblood/crossed with something/whatsoever mutated subraces derived from Yuan-Ti.
But that's only a guess...

Weren't they originally called Histachii or something like that?

They were the original humans that were fed a vile brew of alchemical/divine nature that transforms the drinker into these things. These things then breed, producing Abominations... Over time, the human traits begin to resurface and become more dominant, resulting in Purebloods and Halfbloods.

At least, that was the original progression of the race, with the potion requiring a specific celestial date to create, which occured once every 1000 years.

Of course, the source for this is 2E's Monster Mythology, which will likely be changed or ignored.

its a brood gaurd a form of primitive yaun-ti made from weak humans the lady is probably a corrupted one the other possibility of the human to yuan-ti change they are the least important members of yuan-ti society becuase of their human origins
