Zombie Hunt (Bront Judging) [Concluded]

"Arrows no good? Hmm..." Balnibar shakes his head and thinks. "I was thinking of tethering the beast to the ground with a grappling hook. Perhaps that will still help? Or a lasso of some kind? Or a net? Yes, a net would be the simplest solution! We could entangle a wing, keep it on the ground, and kill it there!"

After a few moments of contemplation, Meksoor addressed the farmer. "Did the beast seem to have a particular path it followed, or just mindless rampaging? Did it prefer any particular targets over others? We could lure it to us if we knew that it was after anything specific."

Hm, arrows had no effect, it flies badly and it's rotting. We're probably looking at a zombie of some sort. I doubt the orginal beast was a true dragon because the zombie would have employed a breath weapon of some sort if it was. The best approach is probably to ground it like we've been discussing and attack with slashing weapons. Say, is the monster hitting anything besides farms?

"Well, we were pretty busy running away from it, but I think it would have done a lot more damage than it did if it had much by way of brains. I mean, it couldn't have been too hard to get the storm cellar open, but it didn't even try... just went after the next thing it saw moving."

"This part of the country hasn't got much but farms. It takes a lot of farmers to keep Sharn fed. Now if it made it down as far as Sharn, then it might have some other targets... but then the army'd be bound to do something, too."

"Well, we can get you rope. I'm not sure you really need to worr much about it's flying, though... like I said, it doesn't seem to be any good at it."

"The real problem, in my opinion, is going to be making sure it can't get at you. This thing is big, it could gut a man in one hit. You may know a bunch about fighting, but even so I wouldn't want to fight this thing in a fair fight, if you see what I mean."

"Well, if arrows don't seem to hurt it, then securing it to the ground so that we can finish it off safely seems like a good bet."

"Securing it to the ground so it can't get at you does sound like a good bet, I have to agree. Maybe if you got it pinned down you could kill it from a distance, safely. We can get you as much rope as you like, and we may have other things that will also help. If you can think of anything that would help, just let me know and I'll try to arrange it."
