[warning: spoiler for original Temple of Elemental Evil]
Hey all,
I'm going to lead my adventurers on a conversion of the original AD&D Temple of Elemental Evil. I got my conversion ready, read through the module, etc.
But then I found the Zuggtmoy conversion and the skin on the back of my neck actually stood on end. Not only can she summon a couple of Balors per hour, and has 661 hit points, has cold, fire and acid immunity up to 20, but her AC is...get this...42. I'm not quite sure how a monster goes from 0 AC in the original module to 42, but I suppose wiser minds than mine might be responsible.
So if my 8th level players (the max they're supposed to be after fighting Ogres and elementals of the Temple) get past the 42 AC, they then have to contend with her 40/+6 damage resistance...
I didn't even think there were +6 weapons. My 3E books tell me +5 is the max.
Anyway, the Challenge Rating of 32 says it all. Zug is as mighty as a Princess Demon should be, but I'm not sure if she belongs in a game against midlevel mortals.
Has anybody (or their PCs) actually faced the conversion of this mighty and formiddable foe? If so, I'd like to hear how and, if possible, get some suggestions on ways I might encourage my PCs to tackle her.
Here's the link to the conversion:

Thanks!
