Shatter specifically states that the spell works on nonmagical items only. Yes, Akos knew the armour is magical, so he'd probably know...

This non-magic only is specific to Shatter. Terrible spell Akos just cast shield of faith. Edited the post above

SRAW doesn't require two hands on a two-handed weapons at all times. The two-handed is for attacks only.
