  • Folk in Suzail are debating the latest decision by the Queen's Lord of Marsember on the matter of corpse disposal.

Marsembans lacking lacking a noble title or coins sufficient to purchase a plot of land beyond the city walls large enough to be buried in have long reconciled themselves to being cremated by barge.

Such “dead barge cremations” (that is, piling the dead onto barges that are floated out onto the water and set aflame) have been the means by which city authorities have disposed of unclaimed corpses for as long as anyone can remember.

Even so, a recent--and quite generous--offer by the necromancer Alashendal to purchase unclaimed corpses for use in teaching her apprentices how to dismember them and harvest the bones has been rebuffed by the Queen’s Lord of Marsember.

"The gods will have my soul when I die," one porter was overheard to say to another outside of Montalar's Happy House, on Swordstars Lane in Suzail. "What care I for my body? My wife and sons could certainly use the coins that wizard is paying."

"Aye," replied the second porter. "Big as ye are, ye'd make a fine meal for Alashendal’s toothy fishes!"
