"NPC . . . gettin' ahead of yerself? Fine. Tha's a good question. NPC character sheets are a mite simpler than yers. Why? Because some quest-makers are LAZY! Tha's why." Trek almost looks through the fourth wall. "NPCs can have sheets just as detailed as yers is, but many of them won't be. What ye might see are two special skills: an Attitude and a Level Bonus, like this:"
Trek
A big, sickly, or perhaps just green, man is here. He wears a tunic and has fists like hams.
Hostile 0
Level bonus 2
MaxP 10
W: Fists d4
"So, my attitude skill is 'Hostile' right now, because yer gettin' on my nerves. Yer MP bonus rolls against my Hostile points, and ye can add Persuade points if ye have that skill. If ye persuade me, 'Hostile' changes to 'Indifferent', but ye can learn more about tha' in the
Magical Scroll of Helping." Trek adjusts his attitude to 'indifferent.' "An' there's my 'Level bonus' skill. That's the one I use for everything else I do. Unless I have a specific skill that applies. Then I use tha' one."
You point out that Trek's sheet doesn't have a P like yours; it has MaxP.
"Oh, yah, right. NPCs don't always have attributes, but ye need to know how much damage they can take, right? Tha's what MaxP is. Like ye can take as much damage as yer P score, my MAXimum Physical damage is 10. Some guild members call them 'hit points,' whatever that means."
Trek rolls his hand in the air to keep you moving.
