"Heroes? Who said anything about being heroes?" Kragnor barks a short laugh.

"To those who captured us, we're the dregs off the street. But, these dregs are going to find those people and show them that even dregs can fight back." Kragnor vows.

Any looking at the figure on the floor first notice the feathers, charred and ...yes, that's the smell in the air. It's stronger here by the figure. Charred, ashy remnants of feathers lie in an arc that radiates away from the figure. The figure is dressed in tattered clothes, red robes, trimmed in black. He is old, with skin lined and wrinkled. He has a stylized red feather tattooed at the top of his breastbone, just under the jugular notch.

There is a wide, shallow, roughly belly-high stone plinth that the figure is sprawled out before. On it are a variety of items, incense, herbs, jars, cannisters, a small balance scale. And more.

Kragnor & Eddie:
The figure appears to have something in his hand, the remnant of a scroll.

Gavril & Malek:
The items on the plinth indicate a ritual of some kind.

Gavril & Mataken:
The items on the plinth indicate a ritual related to the three-fold god of death, Basakara.

Malek looks down at the clothes / bindings covering him: "Were we ... dead? Some kind of resurrection and this one sacrificed for us." He wildly guesses.

The figure on the floor groans, a simple pained exhalation.

There is a holy symbol sitting on the wide altar-like plinth amidst the other ritual items. It is a gold disc imprinted with stylized feather, picked out in red enamel. It begins to glow and a thrumming sensation builds in the air.

The symbol grows brighter and the thrumming sensation rises.

The room is long and rectangular. The dais on which the group stands is at one end. A forest of columns and rows of mummified worshippers take up a large portion of the middle section of the room. Opposite the dais at the far end of the room are heavy doors. A trick of the light maybe, but one the large doors appears to be slightly ajar.

Malek points at the doors: "They look like the only way out. One seems already opened." He moves cautiously toward the door.

He tries to avoid the glow that tries to dispel his comfortable darkness.

"Before we leave, we should see if this...whatever he is, needs our help. What happened to him, could have happened to us."

"More importantly, he might know something that could help us."

Without getting too, close, Gavril says to the groaning, feathery figure, "Are you conscious? Can we help you?"
