If WotC deliver on all their promises...

If WotC deliver on all their promises, would you adopt 5e as your D&D of preference?

Voted "yes I'll adopt it" but what I really mean is "I'll give it a run out and see if it plays as well as it promises", assuming the promises hold up.

That's assumed as part of the poll, ie. that they delivered on the promise of it playing well and holding up and everything else they've ever said about to date.

I voted Yes. Emphatically yes, in fact I will make every effort to help them do it. I can't wait. I'm even planning on buying their re-releases. My money is waiting all they have to do is deliver.

I voted Lemon Monte !!

I don't care if WotC keeps all their promises on 5th edition or not.

The only important questions will be :

Does it feel D&D to me ?

Am I having fun playing the game ?

If both are yes, I will certainly play the game a lot.

I don't think any of the existing editions of D&D are actually good or jusr decent. It doesn't take much for me to switch to a different game.

I voted that I'd switch, but it's easy for me to say something could be my new favorite as currently I don't have a favorite.

If the newedition does have a rival to beat in my esteem, I'd say that'd be Pathfinder, but really I'm hoping for a game that does the D&D tropes well and that can bear being played for years or better decades.

I just wish they'd move away from the reliance on skills. Let character background/theme and ability scores (and the ingenuity of the player) guide "skill" use.

The article on the rogue talks about them as being the master of skills... which really points to 5th edition working like 3rd and 4th edition, rather than being innovative... and that bums me out.

d&d is not my focus right now. If they deliver on their promise then d&dnext will be one among many games i play (including other game systems and previous d&d editions). I do hope they succeed, but my days of playing mostly D&D are long past.

It doesn't make a difference to me how good the game is. If they don't have it electronically available (via pdf) or have AP support, then I just don't have the time to put together games for it. They need to offer, at minimum, what PF offers me. Which would be a shame if it's a very good game. My time is just not as available as it once was to homebrew worlds and campaigns. I would imagine I'll have to wait 1-2 years after release before it began to offer me what I need from an RPG, and that's assuming they offer APs, which they tend to fail on.

It's not always about the game, but about how easy it is for me to access it (electronic, APs, non-DDI) and how affordable that access is (As a PF player, I need a minimum of similar affordable support - online PRD, affordable PDFs, APs). They'll need to offer me more bang for my buck than Paizo does.
