Three new Star Wars movies

Let's face it: Lucas selling Star Wars to Disney came at the wrong time. Disney of course wanted to put their stamp on the franchise as soon as they got it, which is why we got the sequel trilogy when we did ... but if they'd waited till about now to do some sequels, we could have had believably de-aged / deepfaked Luke, Leia, Han, etc gallivanting around the galaxy in their post-RotJ prime.
Yeah, I'm with payn on this one. De-aged/deep faked Luke, Leia, and Han would have been terrible in new movies. Disney got the band back together to tell a story while they still had time... and even then found out they really didn't due to Carrie's death 2/3 of the way in.
Doing a brief couple of cameos for a couple of TV episodes with a de-aged Luke is one thing, substantial adventures in movies is quite another.

His comments were also made when there was not even a hint about a new Rey movie. Given the right script and they might change his mind.
Given that he was promised equal protagonist status then completely and actively shafted last time around, I cannot slightly imagine that anything would draw him back at this point. The actor AND character were wasted, misused and mistreated.

The time for that was mid 90's after the Thrawn Trilogy. Some sort of passing of the torch moment well executed would have been fine.

The absolute travesty is back for more, just terrible. SW is almost completely dead to me and I was a total fan since I saw SW in 77 as a 7 year old. The franchise was a big influence for me as a kid and to see it destroyed in a slow moving wreck has been really not fun. Who is this even for anymore? SW is not cool any more with most kids, my 9 year and his friends barely even notice it exists because it's gotten so lame.
One of the worse parts for me personally is the KK Luke character assassination that continues with these productions.

Others have made this point but it is a genuine shame that in a trilogy that was arguably largely in part successful because of the chemistry of the ensemble cast, they didn't have Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill on screen together when they had the chance is a massive lost opportunity

Think I'll put "Attack the Block" on repeat, like 50 times, and hope that he has a deal for residuals.

Okay. I don't like Filoni's work on Mandalorian, so that one sounds like a pass. I like Daisy Ridley as Rey and the director is good, so that sounds promising. And James Mangold is talented, plus it will have nothing to do with current continuity, so that might be refreshing.

Nothing here fills me with deep excitement, though.

To answer the bold bit: basically everyone who ISN'T an enraged Gen-Xer who thinks he owns Star Wars because he saw it when he was a kid.

Gen-X already threw the worlds biggest nerd tantrum and pity-party for themselves over the Prequel Trilogy, declared it the worst thing ever, said it had destroyed Star Wars, and that everyone would always hate it forever.

Then that was proven not to be true. Surprising as it might be, an entire generation quite likes those movies, or at least views them kindly. Plus Filoni managed to spin gold out of that straw.

So getting mad and self-pitying in the exact same way about the Sequel Trilogy? Nah guys, it's over. You had your party, you don't get to have the same party twice. The Prequels had their issues, but they turned out to be salvageable. I daresay the Sequels will too in the right hands.
