Anyways, yeah I dont like that the "make your own character" still has things forced on him. Like the Haunted One background and that you a prone to murderous urges. You can't in fact make your own character in this game. You have to have some sort of pre-established personality.

You don't have to pick the origin.

That only applies to the Dark Urge, which despite being more customizable is still one of the "Origin" characters, a la the default companion characters.

Choose the Custom origin instead, and you can make your character as freeform as the system allows.

It's at the top, above and separate from the other origins. With me it was already chosen when I started

I broke and bought it for my naughty word PC. Which runs it at Medium apparently. Hair looks awful.

You picked the wrong one, click on the portrait that looks like a dark sillotte above the other origins, that's the custom character without murderous urges. Most folks call it Tav, but you can change the name.

Finally managed to get to Act 2, and I've been having so much fun. It genuinely feels less like a CRPG and more like a proper D&D campaign. It feels like we're all simultaneously running the same adventure path with the same DM.

I bogged down a bit in the later stages of act 1, but otherwise it's been great so far. I also hit act 2 this evening.
