I'd call that a crit on the banhammer swing. To be on topic, I theoretically would get the PDFs, but I would keep my preorders and use them. There's something about having a physical copy of the book that is so much more satisfying.

The thing is that illusion spells go with the feeling of bards as somewhat magical storytellers. A bard can make you see and hear and feel the tale they are presenting. I think that illusions fit well with this concept.

I definitely like the idea of having skilled non-adventurers being minions! For my part, I instantly thought of having minion-consuming abilities too. I can't wait to see what we of EnWorld make once 4E comes out.

We know that Vancian spellcasting is still there, just much smaller. So there are still daily spells that you can choose, hopefully from a long spell list. But there are also at will, per encounter, and per day abilities to complement them. These abilities will probably be mostly combat...

They probably (hopefully) have other playtests dealing with issues like that. If your playtest is trying to focus on a few select areas that particular day, having a dead PC might throw off the math.

That is EXACTLY why the 4E cleric will be able to buff and attack at once. It was very boring for many cleric players to do a cleric because they had to spend almost all of their time healing and buffing, rarely getting the chance to be badass. To make the pally do the same thing would overlap...

Haha, that got a laugh from me. A real one, not some "lol" that represents a small smile. An actual, audible "haha!" I already use the lava supplement in my game.

That is a MAJOR screwup. They didn't bribe the big voices on EnWorld. :) Honestly, EricNoah and PKitty and the other legends-that-walk of EnWorld probably have more sway over my opinion on 4E than anything WotC's marketing people have said or advertised.

Maybe it doesn't max out all of the dice. Sneak attack damage might not be aided by a crit, for example. We just don't know yet.
