While I'm not bothered about the mechanics of the giant strength items, I did enjoy this snippet from the Potion of Frost Giant Strength
"This potion’s transparent liquid has a piece of a gigantic fingernail from a frost giant floating in it."
The monster previews here on ENWorld are pretty much consistent with the rest of the monster entries - stat block, artwork and 3-4 sections detailing a specific interesting thing about the monster. One thing these previews haven't shown is with regards to the legendary monsters, they get at...
We just wrapped up our 5th session of 5th tonight. I'm also running them through Phandelver and they're having a great time. Our group is rather fluid, we have two main players and about a half dozen others who play when they're able. I usually just swap out the characters as needed wherever...
Haven't had much chance to read it yet, as my kids have all been hoarding it since I got home, but I do enjoy that in today's HotDQ pdf they list descriptions for the potions. No more having to make up some color/taste/flavor combination on the spot and then having to keep track of it. Yes...
I'm thinking that you're using an older set of monsters. The current goblins have 7 hp (2d6) and orcs average 15 (2d8+6).
In our run through of the first act of Phandelver, we had one death and 3 other characters on their death saving throws throughout the session. There was plenty of "I'm...
It took about 4 hours for my group to make it through the introductory encounter and 80% through the first main area. This included creating new characters using the Basic rules. Things went rather quickly overall, reminded me a lot of the remembered speed of 1e gaming.
I would also be prepared for the game session to go really off the rails. I had one kid in my son's group exclaim, "I want to set the tavern on fire!" at the very start of the adventure. Rather than try to convince him otherwise, I said, "Sure! How do you want to do that?" This took the campaign...
Yes, I guess that was my question. Would future minis have point values and would the Guild be determining them?
But I guess it's always been a matter of tailoring the stats to the point cost, not the other way around.
If the Guild will be able to get advance looks on the new sets coming out, will they be able to give feedback on those sets?
I guess what I'm asking is if the Guild would be able to determine a point value and faction and have WoTC use those values for the bases of the figures. I'm assuming...
The current Players Handbook is sliced vertically. That is to say they've got a few classes statted all the way to the end. What you're proposing is to cut it horizontally, by tier. The problem is what to do with the future addons? When the Artificer comes out for the Eberron books later next...
I had the same thing where when I was able to log back in, I had failed at several encounters, retreated and ended up with a bunch of loot as well.
Seems like a nice little app, though.
After a dozen 4e sessions here are my suggestions:
I'll add to the people suggesting printing out Power Cards. New players will forget what exactly they can do (and you will too).
Print out some of the Class and Race features too. My wizard player keeps forgetting to add his Implement bonuses...
