Creating magical items in a rare magic world

Oh, please. You're "following" a bit of questionable text about how to distribute treasure on one page of the PHB. Selling costs aren't even referenced in the DMG. "Magic items, for instance, can be sold, but only for half of what they would cost to buy, so it’s usually better for...

    Web of insanity?

Howdyho, folks Quick question: Have you found Web to be a little too strong against massed folks when playing low-levels? i.e., a Scroll-fired Web, with a Reflex DC 13, will still cause those who make the save to move through it using DC 15+ Str or Escape Artist checks. At 5 feet for each 5...

    "Modern" things in your game?

I'm sorry, could you expand on this a bit? Do you mean here that races could rapidly expand and strip-mine the entire planet, and the druids would do nothing? Or do you mean something less extreme?

    Spell-Like Ability confusion?

"For me." Yeah, for me, and thousands upon thousands of people that have never seen the SRD, don't buy dragon, and don't use the internet as a source of their D&D information. i.e., *most* of the people that play D&D. Or do you just not believe that? "House Rule", indeed.

    Spell-Like Ability confusion?

Well.........yeah. The rulebook. The $30+ rulebook that forms the foundation for the vast majority of people that play D&D, most of whom don't use the SRD, and have never seen ENWorld. I guess my point comes from the fact that I see the PHB as the Primary Source for D&D rules.

    Spell-Like Ability confusion?

One more time: So, you want to know how long it takes to use, you look at the ability description. Doesn't say? Ok, you go look a the spell description, under casting time. "unless noted otherwise in the ability or spell description"

    Spell-Like Ability confusion?

A-HA! so much for "common wisdom"............. :p

    Spell-Like Ability confusion?

A-ha! So now, we return most smoothly, to the question I so awkwardly attempted to pose in the beginning of thisheah thread: Why so many people seem to think that you can take a 10 minute casting time spell, make it a Spell Like Ability, and it only takes a standard action? A-ha!

    Spell-Like Ability confusion?

Ok, yes, absolutely. I see this. Now what happens when you go look at the spell and it says "Casting time: 10 minutes"?

    Spell-Like Ability confusion?

Actually, no, they don't. That's my point about the confusion. The PHB says: A spell like ability has a casting time of 1 standard action unless noted otherwise in the ability or spell description. That's my point. It looks like, from the core rulebook, if you have a Spell Like Ability...

    Spell-Like Ability confusion?

I've noticed that there seem to be a lot of people who think that having a spell as a Spell-Like ability means it takes only 1 standard action to use, no matter what spell it is. However, the 3.5 PHB has this to say on the subject: The SRD, however, is not so clear: Is there some other...

    Abondoning a class

I'm deeply sorry to derail this thread any further, but would it be possible to clarify one thing in this situation? It would certainly help me to understand the mods position here: Does Luvin Lt. Fingers have the ability to use blue color tags back now, even though it may cause difficulty in...

Half-orcs and why people think they are/aren't powerful

 SHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! You're not supposed to *NOTICE* that! They're *all* right! Everyone's right! And the other ones need to DIEEEEEE!!! I think you've hit the nail on the head, here. My group hates the PHB 1/2 orc mods, and we roll like madmen when we generate stats. Good show! :p

    point buy

Well, since there seems to be a major concern about rolling coming out with some players shorter than the other, just rig the system ;) Our group uses the following system: 1 free 18, roll 4d6 five times, reroll 1s and pairs of 2s. Roll 2 sets, pick the one you like, arrange at will. Yes, I...

Don't buy bullets from Monte Cook

Excellent point S'mon, just so. I believe the weapon of choice you're referring to, Scaramanga, is commonly referred to as a "wad cutter". The bullet itself is deeply scored with grooves, causing it to fragment on impact, dispersing the force of the shot in multiple directions, and causing...
