How about "Witch" instead of "Warlock"?

Warren Warwick, the warlock/warlord warforged with a warhammer riding a warhorse to war!

How about "Witch" instead of "Warlock"?

'Cleric' has specific meanings in certain religions, and 'druid' also has meaning in a pagan religion to which a family member of mine belongs. I don't think it's wrong to use terms like witch for a game class. And I like it too - especially if they can bring some of the coolness of the AE...

    Eladrin vs. Elves

Also keep in mind that one of the playtests has an eladrin ranger. If it was just that elves were the 'ranger race' and eladrin the 'wizard race', I doubt we'd see that. The bits we've seen about eladrin (their focus on reason and intellect, for instance) sound a bit Vulcan-like, and although...

    D&D: Adventurers, Not Heroes

Let me just note that I don't think Iron Heroes is any more 'heroic' in the sense you're using than DnD. In fact I think it's less so. No alignment, magic that's dark and dangerous, etc. It can certainly run high fantasy, but I played in a long IH campaign where we basically worked for the...

    Star wars SAGA cover?

They have said there will be ways to make Force users better at specific aspects of the Force - I assume it'll be through talents (the classes are going to have d20 Modern style talents if I remember right).

    New Home for Iron Heroes

Yeah it's pretty awesome news. It looks like the revised pdf is only going to have errata, but for really new stuff, from the FAQ on Fiery Dragon: In many ways this could probably be seen as creating the new 'edition', with a new magic system and some classes filling the gaps.

I hate Tolkien: suggest a fantasy setting.

I'll second A Game of Thrones, if you don't mind the 'low fantasy' and humans only aspects of the setting. The game's well designed, and the books it's based on (A Song of Ice and Fire) are my favorite fantasies. Time called the author, George RR Martin, 'The American Tolkien', but stylistically...

    The Saga Strikes Back

I'm working on a homebrew time period as well (after the movies but ignoring NJO and a lot of other EU stuff I don't like). I'll be stealing stuff from the Legacy era, but also trying to give more of an original movie feel.

Recent Star Wars Saga chat session with designers

That's interesting. I thought Jedi were way overpowered in the prequel films. I liked in the originals how Yoda was tired out by lifting up an X-wing, and Palpatine's lightning was a mysterious and very impressive use of the Force. I guess that's just different styles. Hopefully the system will...

    Alignment System

I don't like the alignment system. I think it simplifies things too much and is restrictive. I much prefer descriptors for games that have supernatural 'good and evil'. A mean, petty thief would not have the Evil descriptor, but a vile psycho murderer or a demon would. Abilities like 'smite...

Would Eberron and Iron Heroes go together?

I'd have magewrights as an NPC class able to make permanent magic items (maybe arcanists could too), but no weapons/armor/wands/etc. - they could make a permanent lantern, an airship, etc. and at the height of their craft something like the warforged. And I'd probably use the True Sorcery...

Recent Star Wars Saga chat session with designers

This encourages me greatly. I'm working on a campaign setting that I plan to use with Saga if I like it, and I'd already noted that it "will have a classic trilogy feel. Characters like Yoda and the Emperor might be physically weak and not strong with a lightsaber, but you'd do best not to...

A Game of Thrones (RR MARTIN) - The RPG: Tell me About it, please

Glad to see you like the series. In hardback the Deluxe version might be worth it for someone who wants a really nice fancy book. But unless you plan on playing Tri-stat rather than d20, I wouldn't recommend getting the Deluxe pdf - my hardback and pdf Standard editions have served me fine.

A Game of Thrones (RR MARTIN) - The RPG: Tell me About it, please

Yeah, when I was saying the book I meant the RPG book. Confusing terminology. :p

A Game of Thrones (RR MARTIN) - The RPG: Tell me About it, please

True... but seeing as E is described as "Titles rated "Everyone (E)" have content suitable for persons ages six and older. These titles will appeal to people of many ages and tastes. They may contain minimal violence, some comic mischief (for example, slapstick comedy), or some crude language."...
